After our one week cruise to the Hawaiian Islands we chose Kauai as the one to spend an extra week - What a great choice! Can't imagine a more beautiful place!

I was considering a 150-600mm lens for my Canon t3i and ran across a new SX50 on Craigslist for $200 and thought it might be a cost effective way to get more zoom. Haven't had much time to work with it, but so far I've enjoyed the up to 1200mm zoom. Here are a couple of pics I've made with it so far.

We are fortunate to live within driving distance of both thee BRP and GSM. My advice especially for that time of year is to make reservations for accommodations well ahead of time. Also try to see as much as you can during the week, as the weekends are very crowded with leaf watchers. A couple of places you don't want to miss in NC are Biltmore, near Asheville; Mt. Mitchell along the Blue Ridge Parkway (highest peak East of the Mississippi); and Grandfather Mountain near Blowing Rock, NC. For accommodations, check out Pisgah Inn near Asheville - one of the few directly on the parkway; and Azalea Garden Inn in the town of Blowing Rock - they have some award winning gardens and the town itself is a great place to spend a day.
