What can't you do with the OM-1? It's actually much more versatile.

You can’t make that statement unless you’re ready to back it up.

Mine must be defective, it has very limited options and a ridiculously complex mechanism. Am I missing something here? I was expecting much more. I wish I had the option to buy the Z8 without it. I would rather not have a back screen, save the space and the potential unreliability, than have to put up with the abortion that is there now.

Full disclosure: I have many Nikon cameras and lenses I am a fan of the Nikon cameras and lenses. But Nikon's articulating screen design is just plain stupid.

Olympus has had a TRUE articulating screen for many years. Please see attached images for a proper articulating screen design.

Guess you should have done your homework before you bought it.

Rick from NY posted some beautiful photos of a lovely child in, supposedly, the wrong section.

My Opinion:

Ever since the format changes to this forum, it has more increasingly difficult to navigate the sections. Therefore, posting photos anywhere on the forum seems appropriate. If the forum was re-formated to the old representations, it would be much easier for us to correctly post item subjects where they are supposed to be posted based on a standarized format, rather than no format at all.

Although we may not like the new format it is no more difficult to post to right forum than before which is not difficult at all.

I have a UV protect filter on one of my lenses. If I decide to use a CPL filter, should I remove the
UV filter or is it OK to use both at the same time?
TIA

You should run your own experiment to answer this question.

Has anyone else noticed a significant drop in participation on this forum since they stopped the Daily Digest? I wish they would bring it back.

The Daily Digest has not stoped. I get it every day.

Just upgraded to a Nikon Z8. I thought I would be all set with 4 or 5 batteries, but batteries for my D700 give me an error. Does anyone have a recommendation for an aftermarket version that works well? I’m also looking for a vertical grip, the Nikon version is a bit much, anyone have a recommendation? Amazon has one from Bitubol, but there’s zero reviews.

I have some EN-EL15As or 15Bs if anyone is interested. I think the Z8 requires EN-EL15C.

OK, you paid $4,000 for a Z8 but you want to cheap out on batteries and a vertical grip. Scratching my head.

If you get it repaired by the manufacturer they usually will check the entire lens, probably making it virtually as new. If you get a used $800 lens, its age is not on your side.
If it costs $200-400 wouldn't that be a benefit?

I would agree with that suggestion.

I'm using an entry level camera, Sony a6000 with APS-C sensor.
A year ago I bought a Tamron 18-200mm lens for APSC cameras. I really liked the Zoom capability but I couldn't take a sharp picture to save my life, even when using a tripod. So, last week I bought a Sony Zeiss 24-70mm full frame lens. What a difference! I can't believe that pictures can be so sharp.
The below picture shows side by side comparison of the same spot, the Aperture, ISO and shutter speed are the same and the distance from the camera to the subject is almost identical.

You’re comparing an 18-200mm to a 24-70mm?

My desk in my home ffice has a BIG drawer. It's full of cameras, Canon and Nikon, dunno how many. And maybe an old Voightlander (I bought one through the PX in Korea many years ago.) I've given away a few cameras, never sold one. Just consign them to that drawer. :-) I have one Canon that I use once in a while. Harry

Put em up for sale.

I'm old lol, I started in high school back in 1977 work with film and only B&W. I still have all my work. My camera back then was Minolta 101. Then moved to Canon A1. I was a lucky student, my dad was a photographer with a dark room in the garage. I sometimes finish my HS projects at home. I did take up digital photography right way. I'd love to read other members history in photography

When I was in the Air Force in Thailand in 1968. I bought a yashica from a friend for $35.

A really ignorant observation. That is definitely not the case with Apple.
