I appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Now I'm wondering about color vs black and white? I converted to black and white, and then cropped it a few ways. What are your thoughts on these photos?

Congrats. The stock market rally starting in 2009 has done wonders for everyone's portfolios, seems like. Maybe it's time to sell? Who knows. Consider capturing some profit, maybe? I'm no guru... but I remember that quote by Isaac Newton: “What goes up must come down.”

What can I do to make this photo better? Welcome are all constructive comments on choice of subjects, composition, settings, etc. Thank you.

Taken with Nikon D3300, f/13, 1/10s, ISO 100. Lens AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G.
I'm using ACDSee Pro 9 for post-processing.

If you would consider shipping to 99515 via USPS, I'm interested.

Thanks for your reply. As I'm considering things, I'm not sure how often I would need a lens for extreme close-ups. I want a prime lens, but I'm new at this. I'm leaning toward the Nikon 35MM 1.8 as my next lens. I think it's probably a better general purpose lens. Would you agree?

Just curious... I'm researching this lens. Did you go with it, or did you go with the Nikon 35MM 1.8?

Just point, shoot, and have fun, since you're relying on your iPhone for taking pictures. What more do you need for taking quick and easy snapshots? Since your buddy has put his Nikon on the shelf, maybe you can take it for a "test drive" and see if you like it!

My "entry level dslr" camera choice is the Nikon D3300, which I have owned for a while. I love it. Sorry I'm not familiar with the D5200. However, if you're still undecided and shopping around, I suggest you check out Costco, as they are offering the NEW Nikon D3400 DSLR Camera 2 Lens Bundle for only $599. Comes with AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens, AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED Lens, 32GB SD Memory Card, Camera Bag & Extra Battery, 2 Year Extended Warranty on Camera Body AND Nikon DSLR Educational Online Class.

Excellent suggestion Mrkema. A picture is worth a thousand words. I suspect this is not an issue with the Nikon D3300 at all. A different model Nikon perhaps?

ok so do me a favor and post a picture of the front and back of your camera, just take it with your cell phone like I did and post the pic here so we can see the front and back of your camera. That might help us to fix your problem.

Maybe you don't have the Nikon D3300?

I have the Nikon D3300 along with the wireless remote ML-L3. I recently purchased the ML-L3, and I used it successfully to shoot the Northern Lights here in Alaska. The settings are in the SETUP MENU. It works well with my camera, so I suspect it will work with your D3300, too. I haven't used it in BULB mode, though.

A balmy zero degrees here in Anchorage, Alaska on Nov 30, 2016. Not enough snow yet to cover the leaves!

I have it. There is a forum for it. I use it for raw editing of Sony cameras and eventual editing of tiff files. I do not use it for layers at this time, just basic processing. I find the file management straight-forward when compared to what I read about here for Adobe suites.
You have to use it to get to know it. The Help feature is fairly detailed. As with other software of this type, YouTube is available.

Is there a forum for it? Perhaps you can direct me, because I can't seem to find much here on Ugly Hedgehog®. I haven't been able to find too much on YouTube for ACDSee Pro 9, either. Other than a few short reviews and a highlight clip, that's about it.

Just curious. I became acquainted with ACDSee Pro 9 back in August. I've only used it a few times. Does anyone have any tips and tricks to help me with my post-processing learning curve?
