I realize this discussion is about digital point-and-shoot cameras. However, I still like to keep a film point-and-shoot with me where ever I go. An Olympus 35 RD range finder camera is that camera of choice. Its normal shooting mode is an auto "A" exposer mode that only requiring manual focusing of its 40mm, slightly wide angle 1.7 lens.

The picture quality that this old film camera delivers is very good. It measures 2 ½ inches front to rear, 4 ½ inches from side to side and is 3 inches tall. While it isn't as slim as a smart phone, I much prefer taking pictures with this very old fashioned film camera.

How very sad that so many in America have so much hate consuming their souls.

I appreciate so much your large format pictures. They are extraordinary technically and esthetically.

I've spent most of my photographic hobby life shooting with 35mm cameras. But recently I've come to realize that larger formats can offer so much more. At this point, my hobby is now starting to include medium format shooting. I'm very excited to be going in this new (old and classic) direction.

Well, when I shoot film I develop it myself. I also scan it myself. The price of the film and the chemistry to develop it are my main expenses (not counting the eBay prices I pay to buy all those old cameras).

All of us shoot because we enjoy it. What we spend on camera toys is still a lot less than even the continuous maintenance of an ocean going yacht.

I know shooting film is a lot more $$$. I do it just because I like the looks that film gives.

My friend KNOWS cameras. He did "ever so lightly" chase the filter receiving thread at the front of the lens, but for a 48mm filter. He then gave me an orange 48mm filter he had. It screws on and off silky smooth. I have also ordered several 48 to 49mm step-up filter rings so that I can use my extensive 49mm collection of filters on this Canonette.

I also have an Olympia 35 RD film camera on order. I know that it takes 49mm filters.

I'm really enjoying my collection of physically small 35mm cameras. Also included are several Rollie 35s. Some are the German made 35s with the f3.5 Tessar lens and others are the last efforts of Rollie, the 35 SEs and TEs that allow red and green diode exposure control while composing through the bright viewfinder.

In another area of film camera use, I'm expanding my film shooting to include two Fuji "Texas Leicas" that give me gorgeous 6x9 medium format negatives. Since I now again shoot film and then digitize it with an Epson film scanner, I'm very much enjoying living in both the digital and film camera worlds.

I realize that film costs more, but I like how it looks. And one big benefit is that I spend more time thinking about HOW I want the picture to look before squeezing the shutter button.

My interest in IR is directed to B/W film shooting. I have Hoya R72 filters that I will be using on my two Fuji film 6x9 "Texas Leica" film cameras. I believe I will be able to get both wide-angle and normal focal length shots of very high quality. I will post them when I have something to show.

The camera is a Canon Canonette QL GIII. The problem is that it will not accept filters (49mm size). I gave it to a friend today who spent many years working in camera shops. He thinks he has a thread chasing tool that might do the trick. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry. I want to know who does good repair work on older film cameras, both 35mm and medium format cameras.

I think that some people who get tattoos realize that no matter how fat they get, the tattoo will still cover the same amount of skin and won't need to be turned in for a larger one, like the rest of their apparel. Sorry, but I'm prejudiced toward very heavy people.

I live in Ogden UT and the air is so bad from all the forest fires that my eyes burn every day. But, of course, there's no global warming, according to our fearless leaders.

I forgot to mention that this picture was taken with a Fuji GSW690III film camera. It is a wide-angle rangefinder camera that takes 6x9 pictures on 120 roll film. Kodak Tri-X film was shot at the standard 400 ASA film speed.
