I've been to Ireland twice and taken a wide angle (10-20mm) and a intermediate lens (28-300mm) I never would have had any use for a 70-200mm. Leave it home and lighten your load. I carry a lightweight tripod (Mefoto Travel Tripod) that works perfectly for transporting and shooting.

The west coast of Ireland has always been my preference for landscape/seascape shooting. We usually land in Shannon and start at the cliffs of Mohr and drive south. Their are lots of castles along the way that are also great subjects.

I believe that the luggage weight limit is 50 pounds per bag and if you fly Ryan Air within Ireland I believe it's:
Prices for checked baggage purchased during online booking process:

1st bag (15kg) low season*: €15/£15
1st bag (15kg) high season**: €25/£25
1st bag (20kg) low season: €25/£25
1st bag (20kg) high season: €35/£35

Prices for checked baggage purchased at airport:

1st/2nd bag (15kg): €30/£30 (As of December 2013)
1st/2nd bag (20kg) low season*: €40/£40
1st/2nd bag (20kg) high season**: €55/£55

Enjoy your trip!!! Ireland is a photographers dream!!!!

Took this in Rochester, NY this summer. Put it on FB for comments. Given the angle it puzzles some... but I really liked the shot....

How many do you see?

Welcome to UHH, Dwight. From the looks of your posts, you'll do well here. I like the bird pic a lot. Great Bokeh.
BTW. My granddaughter goes to SUNY at Geneseo. This is her first year there and she's taking Chemistry as her major. She and her Mother live in Syracuse. We're going up to Syracuse in November to visit and we'll take a side trip to Geneseo while we're there. Can't wait to see the campus.
Tom, Lots of sites to shoot when you are here hope you have time to shoot.....Two undeveloped Finger Lakes,(Candice and Hemlock), Letchworth State Park, Stony Brook State Park, to name a few

I think they are on the top of the heap which is why it pays to protect them.... they are very expensive to replace ... do you want to take that chance.....????

I never use any of my cameras without a filter to protect the lens... even my D7800 has threads for a filter!!!!! And that is what I purchased when I purchased the camera.....

Recently retired... have been shooting since I was about 12. Moved from D60 to D7100 and now have a D750. Loving it but still learning all the features.
