Thank you for all your input.

For any tele-extender/lens/camera combination it is wise to check compatibility before purchase. In some cases, only an OEM device will work properly, in others several will be ok. Even within a brand, not all extenders will work with all lenses. The comment that these devices are really intended for fixed focal length lenses should be considered. Best of luck. Happy New Year!

Thank you Cappy, I was afraid the 70d was more for video because they talk so much about that part, I don't do video just shoot photos.

Thank you Bozsik. I like my 6d, but was amazed at the difference with my rebel t2i with so much more reach & it is now acting up so I am thinking of replacing it with the 70d or 7dmk II but worried the latter will be to hard to learn on. I did like the sigma 150/500 on the rebel.

Be patient, learn more about your subject, get closer. Saves money on a tele-converter and your results will be better.

Thank you for the information. When I purchased this lens I wasn't thinking about getting an extender until I bought the canon 6d I was using it on a rebel t2i. I am looking at a 7d mk II or a 70d trying to decide, leaning towards the 70d
worried the other will be to hard to use because I am still trying to learn the settings.

From an old email to Sigma tech support, using extenders on their new lenses is a major compatibility problem.

Thank you Robert, do the Tamron have the same problem making them manual ?
I will look at the Kenko Pro 300 line.

Sigma's compatibility chart shows their extenders will work but no auto focus. And they are not meant to work with any other lenses but those on the chart.

Something like the Kenko Pro 300 line is made to work with a huge number of lens, just as long as their short end is 70 mm and above.

You can, however it may not auto focus due to losing too many stops of light.

Thank you Donald for letting me know.

I ordered the refurbished SX 50 and it constantly is clicking like it is trying to focus, I have to send it back, I hope the next one is better.

Look at the Canon 430 EXII, also consider the Battery grip if you do verticals.

I love my set-up.

I have shot the T2i & 60D. I recently added a 6D with 24-105 f/4 L, my first L. I find it a very solid lens as a walk-a-round. I carry a Canon CPL and 25 extension tube. I like tubes better than diopter filters. I have a 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm BlkMac. I love the look of fast glass primes. I have done good work with all the glass. The 100mm f/2.8 non-L was a sleeper and bought used as was the 85mm f/1.8.

This weekend doing a trial shoot of the Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 and my Grand Daughter. A professional me a long time ago put your nest lens on and find the most creative way to use it.

Hard to find an excuse for not getting the shoot.

I still like my T2i for the reach, the 24-105 f/4 L is my first L lens also and I really like it so far, I plan on trying it more this weekend. I will be looking forward to your opinion on the Tokina 16-28 f/2.8. and hope you post a few shots with it. I only have one prime Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens so far I purchased recently. Thank you for responding J.R.

Beautiful sunset, Chuckwal, makes me want to get out and start using my new camera, but have a lot to do right now. I got the same lens with mine and the pixma pro 100 printer still in the box! I haven't had mine to long and hope to fall in love with it this summer. Looking at flashes for it also, leaning toward the 580EX.
