I think #1. The larger stump in 2 and 3 seems to stop my eye rather than leading it further

I agree #1 is my preference.

Overall I really lie the picture and still life photos are not usually my thing. You have pushed me to look about for some subjects. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment, BassmanBruce. Glad you like them. I agree that it would make a great foreground for a MW shot, full moon, star trails, and likely a number of other night shots from various views. You definitely gave me something to think about.

I agree completely. My son says I always shoot "old broken stuff" and I would love to find a scene like this. I would also get closer, if possible.

Excellent advice about the point and shot. We live in Orlando and only take heavy duty gear for special event. Memory Maker is excellent and costs less if you purchase before you arrive. They even add "special" images to a shot from time to time.

I was looking at a similar MacBook Pro at the Apple Store. A few moments of comparing flash storage and enhanced memory to the soon to be forgotten non-Retina unit convinced me to spend a few more dollars, but I went to the refurbished section of Apple's online store and still saved over :new".

Looks much better to my eye. I worked in sepia with many pictures in the "olden days" when the print had to be manipulated. Haven't tried sepia in digital mode yet.

Beautiful compositions. If they were mine, I would back off on the contrast just a touch to bring out some detail in the shadows. And even those should be just "hints" of detail ..... you're very close, so this should be a very subtle change.

I agree some areas have lost all detail in darkness, but overall some very nice pics/

As a cat owner, I think the original is a good, but typical cat shot. The rendition however is amazing to my eye. Excellent idea.

You might want to look at cotton carriers site. They offer some alternatives to the conventional camera strap.

Yes I shoot in RAW. I am currently using Aperture, and will have to wait and see where I go from here.

I started taking photos at about age 8. I got serious many years ago with a Canon FT and a makeshift darkroom. Now shooting a Canonv 40D, but admit that I miss some of the old darkroom flexibility
