don' take offence please but ,im sure you know that composition is in the eye of the beholder .....and frankly i don't like the picture at all.
Composition is based on what the ignorant person will pick out of a group of photos......someone who knows nothing about art or composition ,simply what appeals to them and then a bunch of rules were made from that.....
just my opinion, but if your picture is picked by a random bunch of people ,
you have achived something. your division of thirds and laying a grid across your frame really isn't as important as made out.
if nit picking i would say ,what is the main subject. It looks like composition is the main subject.
But i do like you signature photo.
james
no lens has distortion......any distortion is caused only by the angle you take the pix from

i object very strongly to the statement that Labs have no brains. They are so smart they make you think they have no brains but in fact you are the one who is in doubt.
lab lover.

yes it is an improvement.....you are doing well and i wish i could use PP as well as you do.... and remember there is always poetic license.....if you like it ,then that's all you need and if you can impart to others what you see in a picture, then it is successful.
Well there would, i imagine be a vast difference if taken at other times of the day when the light would be different......not being familiar with the area i cant say what time of day but i would i think look for a brighter time..a lot of dark shades tends to make one feel sad and if that is the impression you wanted to give then you have been successful...Also the sun spot at the top is unusual but attracts the eye from the rest of the picture and sort of leads the eye to the bright spot on the water.....again ..okay if the path of light is meant to be your main subject.....
first of all.......was a professional quite a while ago. and i am still learning even in spite of all my photography training.....i think the beauty about photography is you can never know everything and will still be doing courses until the day you die......most times i find the most interesting photographers are the ones that have no learning , just a natural way of seeing things........ as to your question about your work.....i think you have a very good technique for manipulating an image ,if that is your aim.
The photo, i would have chosen a different lighting because the vast number of the same colors merging into each other make it hard to find the main subject....also place a grid over the photo and see that your composition is lacking.....the greatest contrast in an image should always been in the main subject and secondary subjects less, but placed carefully in a lees prominent position
the colors are pretty......but i find the whole thing very tiresome to look at... too cluttered and disorganized for me........sorry
