Had AT&T dsl for years, until they started raising prices with no increase in speed. In the area that I live, there is no fiber optic. The lines are so old and bad that when it rains a section of the neighborhood loses internet and phone lines have a lot of static. Seems there is a dip in the line that fills with water. My daughter & son-in-law tried uverse. They couldn't get hd on more that 1 tv, and internet was around 1.5mbs. They had service out numerous times with no success. Now they have Xfinity, my grandson is ecstatic, he can stream video and play video games with his cousin in Orlando. Also, they offer cell service. 5 lines for free, if you don't use much data. I moved both mine and my wife's cells. All I'm paying for is a new phone, as I don't use much data.

I believe that the people whose wages should be withheld because of not doing their jobs are in Congress. I don't think that they are affected by a government shutdown. Unfortunately. If they knew that they would not be paid because of their inaction, maybe they would sit down and work something out. Attaching little bits of everyone's pet projects to every bill is what has brought government to a halt. DACA has absolutely nothing to do with a bill funding government workers such as police, fire fighters, sanitation workers, etc.

Besides which, people who are in this country illegally should not ( do not ) have the protections of the Constitution. They are here illegally, they are breaking the law and therefore have NO rights.

Given that hindsight is 20/20, I wonder if the inhabitants of this land when the European settlers arrived wish they would have built a wall and enforced immigration laws!

It's been years since I've done any shooting, but it seems to me that 200 yds. is a Long distance, especially with a pistol. Did it have a scope? Was he using some kind of rest to steady it? Was he using special ammo to be able to penetrate at that distance? I think there are a number of questions that still need to be asked and answered.

Are we sure that the grand jury indictment will be unsealed tomorrow? It is not uncommon for indictments to remain sealed until the investigation is completed, so as not to allow those others involved to destroy evidence or leave the jurisdiction of the court. We really don't know who is going to be indicted; could be Hillary, could be you or me. We just need to wait and see who draws the short straw!

Michael is the name of one of the archangels, therefore neither male nor female. The name is appropriate for either gender.

." My other half is going through it soon, and will have one for distance, and the other done for close-ups"

That works out ok if you have sight in both eyes. Having had a 2/3 detachment of the retina in my left eye, I opted for distance in my right and am going to get a pair of sunglasses with clear glass in the top and readers in the bottom.

We had the usual amount of Darwin Award Winners. People running generators in garages, and one group running the generator in the bathroom! Here in Palm Beach County, the power restoration was the shortest yet. Guess Florida Power & Light has replaced enough of the infrastructure over the past 12 years to have hardened the system. Only 4 days out this time. Woo Hoo!!!

We were without power from Saturday morning until last night. One of the shorter power outages we've had with hurricanes. 7 Days with both Frances and Jeanne and 10 days with Wilma. My son still doesn't have power, but he has all the generators and window a/cs, so he's doing ok . He should have power today or tomorrow. FPL says all of the East Coast of Florida should be back up by the weekend.

We are already getting ready for Irma and Jose seems to be in love with her because he is following her steps.

Hopefully not another Frances and Jeanne combo!

My question has always been if the end of the world came tomorrow would I have to pay my mortgage off?

The answer is "Yes". Bankers will survive the holocaust of nuclear war. Or is that cockroaches?

Forgot to put on the list " buy 20 cases of water, when you wouldn't drink water on a bet."

All houses shuttered, gas cans full, generators ready, now we just wait. It can still go anywhere. We thought Matthew was coming for us, but it stayed out to sea. Only lost power for 7 hours, not 7 days! As the whole state is in the "cone of destruction", there's really no place to run. We're not in a flood zone, so we'll just be "hunkering down". Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Also, this is the time of year that some refineries switch from putting out gasoline to putting out heating oil. This always raises prices around Labor Day.

Any group that promotes and condones violence against another group simply because they are "another group" should be ignored. Publicity and news time are what feeds all these groups. Cut that off and the poisonous vine will wither and die.
