Took this shot in parking lot of the Painted Church on the Big Island of Hawaii on Sept. 8th. Need help identifying it.

Thank you all for your help. I am taking my tripod. Will leave red and warming filters home.

I am taking cpl and ND filters for each lens. I also have a red filter and a warming filter. Would either work for volcano shots in both day and night times? Or should I just leave them at home? Doing a full day photo tour on Oahu then 10 days on Big Island of Hawaii.

Thank you so much for sharing, your photos are stunning. I will be shooting from the visitor's center. We plan to spend the night at the Volcano Village in order to shoot at night. I hope we also get to see and shoot a lot of stars along with the lava.

Thank you for posting and your help about filters. I am taking my polarizer filters. I had not thought of the ND ones. I love seafood so don't think I could ever get tired of the food in Hawaii.

Thank you for posting. I do have a monopod and a travel tripod. I will be taking the tripod as the monopod doesn't have the strength to support my heavy lenses.

Thanks Jim, I will share when I return.

Hope you get there. I am really excited about my first Hawaiian Trip. I will try your suggestion of 16mm.

Thank you all for your help. I am taking my tripod and wireless intervolmeter. I wrote down your settings Jim to take with me.

I have no idea on how to take night photos. I want to photograph the volcano/crater at night. I will be using Canon t5i camera with Tokina Ultra Wide 11-16mm f2.8 pro lens. Can someone help me with what settings to try and do I use on camera flash or turn it off? I have a fixed 24mm f2.8 stm lens that I can also take if it may be a better choice of lenses. Since its a once in a lifetime trip for me I really want to get a few decent shots of the lava at night.

Thank you all for your help. Have decided to take the Canon 100-400L lens and the Sigma 18-250 lens. Also taking ultra wide Tokina 11-16 f2.8 for night shots at the volcano. I think these should cover anything I shoot.

Has anyone used this lens that can tell me how well it actually works? Going to Hawaii for 3 weeks in August and am trying to lighten the carryon load by taking smaller lighter lenses instead of my heavy large Canon 100-400L and Samsung 150-500 lenses. I will be using it on a Canon T5i crop sensor camera.

Yep, it is a decoy. It was sitting beside a small pond behind the visitors center. Not sure why it was put there but thought it was fun addition to the spot.

Thank you sailorsmon for your kind comment. I did not know white squirrels existed until my brother took me to an area where they are usually found.

Visiting family in Panhandle and was very fortunate to see several White Squirrels. These are not Albino squirrels but are a member of the gray squirrel family. Included a few other shots around the area. Photos have been cropped and adjusted in Photoshop for better clarity.
