Thanks to all you UHH's for your reply's. My son is the pilot in a Maule-3, with 4 seats not much room to move in it. I am 84+yrs and can't move like I use to... Will shoot out of a closed window. We fly at different altitudes over mountains and valleys here in Idaho, also hope to visit some national parks, etc. I am leaning toward using my 40mm 2.8 pancake or getting a 50mm 1.8 stm. Some of you have had some interesting shooting experience.
Thanks again for your very useful advice.

I've spent many hrs in the seat of my one seater biplane. Have never had a lens bigger than my fifty. But rarely fly much over 500 ft. Find out what altitudes you will be flying. Just be sure you use a fast shutter speed.

You will be shooting at all different angles. A lens any longer you will be banging the heck out the side window.

Thanks dirtpusher, we flew 8,500-9500 ft. checking out some mountain tops, etc. I don't have a 50mm but a 40mm. I think that maybe it will be ok, I hope. Can't afford more lens at this time.
Thanks for your reply.

Space is tight so a long lens won't work, I have a canon 24mm f2.8, 10-18mm f2.8 & 40mm pancake lens. I tried my 18-135mm 5.6, but it was too cramped to really work with. Any suggestions are welcomed. I shoot a canon 70d.

Thanks Robertjeri, I just passed on the information that I read in the paper. Can't trust those critters on anything it seems. Sorry for the mis-information. I appreciate your correction. It was exciting to see in flying anyway.

This B-17 is the only one in the world that is still flying.  It flew over the house while I was planting some flowers in the backyard.  I loved the sound of the engines, workhorse in WWII over Europe.

Wapiti (Bill) & I meet about every couple of weeks for lunch and talk about whatever. Sometimes, we even discuss photography.
We decided to have a simple shootout! We picked out a place to shoot. We thought we would take our best shot, do whatever we wanted to our images and present our best shot on UHH for a vote for who produced the “best” image.
The loser gets to by lunch for the winner.
Since this is just a two person event, it is posted in the gallery section (I guess if the Admin thinks different, he will fix it).I took image #1 to show what our subject was.
So, here we go!

Here are the images to choose from. After some time, we will declare a winner if anyone votes.

I like #1 in #2 the sky has blob of dark blue from a filter it looks like.

I like the color because it brings the old rail fence to life.
