I got a GX85 when it came out and I like it so much that I traded in a GX8 and an Olynpos EM-1. I have no regrets and it's joined with a Somy A6500 and RXq100111. If you have other cameras I think you'll find hat you lean more and more to the GX85.

I have used Beach in the past and they were fine but I stopped using them because they seemed to go into the iverall appliance business and less in the camera world. In addition to B&H I can fully recommend Unique in New Jersey. They pirice competitively and for a New Yorker no sales tax - there is one for Jerseyites. Staff is helpful. I do think B&H is better for trade-in values.

I have a lot of respect for Gary Friedman, photographer, lecturer, writer. He's said many times that he shoots raw and jpeg BUT 92% of the time the jpeg is fine and he uses that. Therefore the raw is just a fall-back safety measure.

Nobody is taking you seriously. I'm afraid. I have a film oriented friend who has a small digital camera that she occasionally tries to use. She's anti-computer so I take her memoryy card and print the pictures for her. I just performed this service put the card back in the camera and looked anf found a whole bunch of pictures not downloaded. To shorten the story I found they were from a previous situation that I had downloaded. Therefore Photoshop Elements 15 just refused to reload them. Could something like this be paret of your problem?

On You Tube look up Gary Fridman's "The Inexcpected Thongs About the A6300." In this he documents some hidden facts about the 16-50 kit lens. Yes, it has distortiom BUT Sony has dealt with this in the A6300 and presumably the A6500 and those corrections are also observed by Photoshop and Lightroom but probably not with other programs.

I missed your reference to 1/20 in your original message. I tried it and it didn't work for me. 1/60 is better. What's best is to carch at changeovers some TV close-ups of action usually slightly slowed. I've been able to get a few player with ball shots - always my preference. Again, thanksfor your interest.

Thanks for the quick response everyone. The 1/60 of a second seems to work pretty well especially when there's bot too much movement. So while I can't get the action shots that I'm used to when I'm there I will have a photographic souvenir of the 2017 Open. Again, thanks for the explanations and help.

yES,I'm using the photos purely for my own aND MY son's enjoyment (we share a lot of photos) so I'm sure there's no copyright infringement. I'm going to try the `1/60 s3cond suggestion although I think that's going to be too slow.

As a long time tennis player (no longer active due to age) I( am addicted to the US Open tennis tournament and have purchased 4 days of tickets for many years including this one. I then create my own album of the event. However, this year ill health makes it impossible to attend even though I have the tickets. So I thought I'd try and still create an Open album by taking pictures of my TV set coverage. The results are mixed to say the least.

My equipment is a Sony A6300 with the kit lens and a Tamron 18-200. My difficulty is in choosing a shutter speed. Around 1/300 - 1/340 works for fairly stationary shots but motion is frequently blurred. If I increase the speed I get some strange intermittent results -sort of a sepia overlay. I'm wondering if this is catching the TV picture in some sort of transition. Also I seem to get somewhat better results from my computer screen than from the 32 inch TTV.

So does anyone have experience withis and can offer suggestions?

Gary Friedman, a noted photographer, lecturer. photo book author has been quoted as saying he shoots raw and jpeg. This way he always has the raw to fall back on if there's any difficulty. However, he says that 92 per cent of the time the jpeg is fine.

I think the obvious answer to your request is one of the Sony APS-C E-Mount cameras, the least expensive and lightest being the A6000. The A6300 is also good and the A6500 is weather sealed with touch screen but of course is more than twice the cost of the A6000. I would vote for the A6000 given your requirements and impedimentia. Enjoy!

The supreme P&S cameras are clearly, to me, the Sony RX100 line. The first one had no EVF, the 2nd had an add-on EVF that was bulky and pricey, but the 3rd is, to me the perfect example, 1-inch sensor (large for a p&S), pop-up EVF and easily fits in a shirt pocket (preferably with a button flap to prevent fall-out when bending over.) The 4th version adds 4k and the 5th gets fancier and a good deal pricier.

Closer to your price goals are 2 Panasonics, the Lumix VS50 and the VS60. Both have long zooms and are in the $290 to $350 range at B&H. I bought the VS50 but was frustrated by no Auto ISO in Manual mode. I returned it and got the VS60 just a few dollars more and slightly larger but still pocketable. So good luck and check them out.
