Ok, I'll give it a shot.

I see two things:

1.) Focus. Nothing is in sharp focus. Something has to be sharper than the rest, so as to direct our eye there.

2.) Light. It's got a bit of side lighting naturally. Next time get a piece of "foamcore" board from the crafts store (or any white cardboard or object) and reflect some light back INTO the tomatoes and leaves. That will really help.

Most everything we shoot isn't in the best light that it can be in...almost every time, the light can be improved by adding a reflector and putting "side light" into a scene. Side light = texture and form.

But otherwise, the composition is fine and the idea was good.

Thank you very much, I will try again.

In order to improve what reap, I need to know if I am sowing correctly. Please let me know how I can improve. Do not worry I have thick skin, just trying to learn.

In #1 I would have probably like to have had just a bit more of the background (you almost lost his toes) other than that really nice shot.

#2 with the natural light making shadows just takes away from it. I have thousands of shots like this. Not always easy to look and adjust at the time. Or try not to scare critters with a reflector easier said than done with wild ones.

Thank You wonkytripod, I will look into using a reflector mor often.

Here us the secret: compose, shoot, view and adjust. Too light/ dark, make adjustments(exposure compensation, add light etc.). Repeat if necessary.

Thanks CrispColors, I will readdress my shooting procedures.

I am no expert, i am a rookie myself. I think both look focused good. I like the second better it has something, background behind it. If you could focus it in a little. I think from what i have learned the f stop helps with that. I hope im not leading you wrong. Other than that they look nicely done.

Thanks Racin, I will take your suggestions to heart

I think the first one is really nice! The second one, as you know, has a problem with shadows and I think the frog should be smiling!

Thank you for your reply, sorry for the delay in my response

Please tell me what I need to do to improve. I realize these were taken during the wrong time of day. I want to hear the truth, I have thick skin.
