I have been using the PD2700 for about 3 years now, knowing that it's optimized for graphic designers rather than photographers. After calibration I can hardly see on the prints what I am missing on the screen from the extended gamut (I print at home on an Epson Photo expression XP 960). IMO the monitor is good enough for the photo enthusiast.
And BTW there is no problem printing 16-bit TIFFs or JPEGs.
I have been a happy user of the Benq PD2700 for the past three years. I bought it for photo editing. I didn't want to pay the price of a professional photo editing machine and selected this model after reading a couple of thorough test reports and being aware that this monitor was merely targeted to graphic designers. I don't see any color bleeding in the corners. The back light may not be completely even, but it's only a impression when you look at a full bright color. I recommended it to several photo "enthusiasts" and never heard a complaint.
Unhappy customers tend to tell their frustration. But how many happy users?
I never felt unsafe even in Havana centro. Just avoid the inevitable hookers (usually asking for a drink when they spot a lonely male at the bar).
I was solo. I booked rooms in so-called casa particulares, i.e. private homes in great conditions, often tastefully decorated. When you need transportation, ask the home owner to make the arrangement and always ask for the cost beforehand. Bring cash, it's easier. American Express is definitively not welcome...(It's actually useless).
Cuba is great for street photography: check out my two latest posts here. Havana is worth 2 or 3 days, Trinidad another couple of days, as well as Cienfuegos. Santa Clara has a Che Guevara memorial, and the train he robbed for weapons.
You can PM me if you have specific questions.
Kindermann is a good brand. Mine are 45 year old and still in perfect condition. Just check that the tungsten lamp type is still available for replacement.

I wonder if the people that live in your "idyllic rundown" areas share your enthusiasm. Would you?
Well, you may be surprised. I don't want to start a political debate here but there may be some misconceptions out there. The restrictions imposed by the reinforced US embargo are certainly affecting most people and certainly the poorest due to the lack of medicine and other essentials.
Despite that I never met so many friendly people, and not just in the tourists places. Illiteracy and drug addiction is inexistent. Healthcare is freely available to everybody and they have one of the highest density of MDs...How would this compare to, let's say downtown LA?
The country actually sent more than 50 practitioners to Italy to help them fight the covid-19 over there.
This site is about photography and the island has a lot to offer.

The pictures are great. I see you only went to the nice areas. People there live with great poverty.
True. This series was about the art scattered all over the island and mostly in the historic center of Havana where massive restoration took place during the past decade.
I'll come back here with another series showing some of the reality of the Cubans.

Nice street shots gmw12, i'd like to see more of that kind of shooting on this forum.
Thank you Ched. I just posted another series of Cuban street art.

What a delightful series to awaken to. Thank you. Was that first shot, in Cienfuegos, showing a child at the foot of a bronze statue? If so, do you remember who it depicted? Thanks again, and stay well.
I just found out that this statue by José Villa (who also made Hemingway and John Lennon) represents singer and song writer Benny (Benjamin) Moré born 1913 in Cienfuegos.
Unlike in other communist or ex-communist countries, Cuban street art is rather exuberant.

From the web? or did you mean upload from your personal photos?
Seing the interest above I'll show a couple of other series - Cuban street art, and People of Cuba - from the shots I did there a couple of weeks ago.

Very nice series. Still don’t understand why the U.S. continues to embargo that country. IMO, we should be trying to improve the living standards of the average Cuban citizen.
Thank you. There was a light breeze of fresh air during the former administration but it came to a full stop when the current one reinstalled the full embargo. It really hits the poorest.

Thank you for your comment, Jeff. Yes, it is a bronze statue, but I haven't found out who the man is, there was no indication (and no artist signature). Cuba is full of those statues imitating people passing by...
I think I'll download another series of Cuban street art shortly.
