Absolutely. Some of our most iconic photos are technically very flawed. But what remains a simple truth is that a raw file is a better starting point for editing, and the more extreme the editing, the greater the advantage. What "depends" is the significance of that fact. For some people the potential advantage is of no significance and for some the advantage is trivial. And let's not forget that there are those who are incapable of appreciating the advantages. However, whether the advantages are insignificant for some or unappreciated by some, that doesn't stop them from being real.

With modern digital equipment, auto-focus lenses, and modern editing software, excellent compositions and technical excellence are not either-or / mutually exclusive expectations.

If you watch the UHH for-sale section, you'll see most used cameras were literally used by really old men (and the occasional woman) on sunny Sundays in Florida .... Low mileage on shutter systems designed for a minimum of 200,000 clicks.

Idea...I am a member of a couple of camera clubs. My primary is D850. A master photographer wanted to get a Z8 to backup his Z9. I know him and his camera very well. He agreed to sell me his 850 for $200 above trade-in offer.

Bonus - took the copy settings of my camera and within less than a minute had the other 850 a perfect match (i.e. dual back button focus, copyright, etc.).

Great example of my suggestion in action.

I shoot Kodak Gold now, as well as various types of expired Fuji film; they are nowhere the same, other than both being film.

J11 - great results, colors!!

Shooting in JPEG is nothing to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards.

Photography is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you refuse to go mirrorless.

Don't let the noise of other people's opinions stop you from having the wrong one.

Please correct me then. I have read your posts where you state you are still using your older DSLR cannons and in fact do not own but recommend mirrorless.

It's no harder to find than my signature line, appearing under every post ...
