First many of the deaths were because people who had tested positive for covid were placed in assisted living facilities. Second many of them died with covid rather than from covid, which can be proved because the U.S. death totals in 2020 are not very much larger than in 2019, certainly no where close to a million more. Third if you were around the school system prior to 2020 and today you wouldnt be poo-pooing the harm that was done to children. Fourth those athletes its not just that they didnt get to play, they lost the ability to go to college. And, finally we shut down huge sections of the country that had no risk from covid. Kids dont die from covid and very few even get sick so you claim I dont value human life, but what about the value of their lives?
As to deaths from covid according to census.gov 535,191 more people died in 2020 in the U.S. than in 2019. That is a 19 percent imcrease, but 15,633 more died in 2019 than 2018 and 25,702 more died in 2018 than in 2017 and 69,255 more died in 217 than 216 and so on. So on average that means somewhwre around 30,000 of that 535191 would have died anuway making the death toll from covid no more than about 535,000 people. A lot, but a far cry from over a million. Stats when misapplied lie. Less than half the number of people tjey cla died fr covidbreally did. Statistically 500,000 of that million would have died anyway.

How quickly you forget what we lucky survivors lived through in 2020. While Republicans were so concerned about the effects of Covid on the economy and Donald Trump’s re-election, they were trying to convince us that Covid was "just like the flu". I know friends and relatives who died and they were not old nursing home patients. I also know many survivors who are currently struggling with the long term effects of Covid. The bottom line is that your struggling children can catch up and your athletes still have opportunities. The million plus American victims of Covid don't get second chances. Many of them foolishly listened to clowns who advised them to pretend they could just live as if there was not a pandemic. As I stated, so much for the value of life. Money and the economy are the only things that really matter.
