Thanks, Chinaman. I'm going to enjoy the company (& expertise)
of all you guys.
Leave it until summer before you think of crossing the ditch. It's freezing over this way.

Hi Alwyn, I'm not too far away in the Rangitikei, welcome, post some pics, and tie down tight, in case more gales come your way. Cheers.Nancy J

Welcome Swallow
Cabbage Whites on Michaelmass Daisy
Tui on Kowhai
Thanks a lot. From what I've seen of the Forum, you guys are a great bunch!
Now stop reading these posts and pick up your camera!
Best wishes

Sorry! One bird was omitted from my "Three Birds" post.
Here it is, along with a couple of others
N.Z. tui
Silverey, alias Waxeye, alias White-eye on Prunus campanulata
New Zealand Pigeon
A trio of birds: Blackbird, Fantail and Tui.
The blackbird has the run of the house and brazenly feeds from the cat's food dish in her presence. She won't raise a paw - I think she's aware deep down that she SHOULD be doing something about it, but (yawn) can't really be bothered.
The European blackbird was introduced to New Zealand in the early 1860's, & has flourished. The other two birds are native.
European Blackbird, (Turdus merula)
N.Z. Fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa)
Hi all,
Great to be with you guys. But please be gentle - I'm a virgin. Well...so far as the forum is concerned.
Hi all,
I'm a retired Kiwi (New Zealand) broadcaster with an interest in photography dating back to 1973, when I enlarged my home & set up a permanent darkroom - "permanent" until digital arrived!
My photographic interests lie mainly in birds & natural history, though I'll grab anything else that appeals to me. I'm running an
Alpha 550. Favourite lenses: the lovely Minolta constant f4 70-210, "Beercan" & the Tamron 2.8 90mm macro
