Hi CHOLLY.
That's great information and thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I have saved the information and will try the settings. The lens that I use are the Sony 70 - 400mm G lens.
Kev
Hi Guys.
Thanks for all your advice. I tend to shoot in A mode and use spot for both metering and AF but I do seem to get a lot of out of focus shots. I also adjust the ISO to suit the conditions. I will now try different settings, thanks to all who replied.
I have attached a couple of photos (I think) of a Barn Owl taken the other day and that was shot in A mode and spot for both.
Kev
Thanks planepics.
That is the next step and will use the wide AF. Hopefully I will get some better photos for BIF. Some do come out ok but I think that is pure luck.
Thanks for you advice,
Kev
Hi lloydl2.
Thanks for your advice. We have got some Barn Owls locally, I took a few photos of them flying the other day but quite a few of the photos were over exposed and out of focus. Hopefully I will try again soon but use a different AF area.
Cheers
Kev
Hi Sony guys.
Hope this is in the correct forum.
When shooting BIF what type of metering mode & AF area do you use?
Metering Mode.
1. Spot
2. Centre Weighted.
3. Multi Segment.
AF Area.
1. Local.
2. Spot.
3. Zone.
4. Wide.
Thanks for any advice.
Kev
Brilliant. Still a great song.
Thanks for the information. I have recently purchased the Sony G 70 - 400mm lens, great lens, love it.
Thanks for all you comments, much appreciated. They seem to have come down in price a little as in the High Street they are going for around £800 (body only) but cheaper from abroad. I would be able to buy it through the company I work for and will then get another 10% off.
I popped in to a local camera shop today and it does fit well in the hand so hopefully will go for it in the next month, just got to pay for Christmas first!
The local Sony shop are selling the a77 for £999.00!
Thanks again
Kev
Hi all Sony guys.
I am thinking of upgrading from a Sony a55 to a Sony a77. For those of you that have already upgraded I would like to ask the question if you think its worthwhile considering the cost and the quality difference?
I do like the fact that the a77 stands the weather better and also has a mode where you can programme 3 settings.
Thanks for any advice.
Kev
Hi
I've had the Sony 70-400mm lens for a couple of months now and just love it. People do comment about the weight of the lens but I can go out for a few hours with no problems and all I use is handheld. If you can afford it I would buy it instead of the rental.
I have the Sony 55a.
Kev
Hi infocus.
Yes, its quite nice in Nottingham. We visited OZ about 5 years ago and are looking to return once I can get my head around the amount of time spent in the air!
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Hi all.
Im Kev from Nottingham in the UK. Just trying to get into photography again and take it a step further so hoping to pick up a few tips etc as its looks a great site. Im using a Sony 55a and have just purchased the 70 400mm Sony G lens. Havent had time to use it much as the weather has been awful.
