Nice! Been thinking about one of those or a new D 7200 before they are gone. The touch screen may be the deal breaker - I really dislike the dam' things.
quixdraw…… I compared the D7200 with the D500 and without hesitation purchased the D500 for a number of reasons. I too dislike the touch screen, though I have a friend who initially hated his but has now grown to love it! I can see the occasional use for it - in the meantime, you're not locked into using the touch screen.....simply disable that function. Easy, however it's there should you ever need it.
Don't hesitate quixdraw…. for a million reasons, race out and grab one - you'll love it
500mm PF...... Fresnel element is up-to-the-minute in lens technology. Much smaller, lighter and significantly less expensive than the f/4E FL ED VR. Ticks all the boxes - you'll love it.
I heard that Canon are about to release a 600mm with a fresnel element soon. Hopfully Nikon will as well... perhaps 800mm. Would make a super birding lens.
We are very lucky in Australia to have many species of colourful Parrots. The King-parrot is very common in the eastern states and often photographed. The brilliant scarlet head and chest of the adult male makes it one of our most beautiful.

Nice ones Fredtoo. My wife and I visited Ranthambore a few years ago, specifically to photograph tigers. We were spectacularly unsuccessful.... we had one long distance fleeting glimpse and never got any images of tigers. Your photos have inspired me to perhaps return in the future for a second attempt. Thanks for posting you beaut images.
Whoa, well adjust my headdress.....what a pretty creature, superb
Thank you Blaster. BTW - love your avatar.... suspect there's a service related story behind it and also your use of the word 'headdress' as distinct from 'hat'!
