I've been out of any meaningful photography since last September as a result of moving my residence from rural to urban. I had printed and matted the photo from,,,

...and was waiting for repair parts to my Shopsmith to cut the frame. Then the big move started, and the matted print hasn't been seen since. I've made modifications to the photo and reprinted. Now waiting for matting boards to arrive tomorrow.

Anyway, I hope I'm back to making photos, and I hope you find this recent version an improvement.

Cheers, Neil

Nice move, looks like you also have a terrific view.

Located just high enough to look over the single-story buildings in front.

Nice pano. I would recommend cloning out the wires.

Thanks for your comments, Ballard. It does look like a pano, doesn't it. Just a crop from the rectangular frame. Would you believe I've already taken some out. The rest will follow when I'm ready to print.

Very nice image!!!!!
I'm glad you're happy.
It took me 30 years to get out of the city, no way in H@@@ I'm going back !!!but then all of my girls live in the country and one within a mile of me.

Thank You for the comments, Frank. This city of 20,000 is the largest I've lived in, in my life. One of my girls is now about 5 blocks away. One redeeming factor is I now have the option of sitting at the window and shoot eagles or herons passing by.

Your timing was fabulous - and good luck with the move

Thank you, joecichjr. Now to start looking at The Photographers Ephemeris more often now that I have a decent view to the east.

Great!

Thank you, Outback. Another lucky random moment in time. I'll be looking at sun rise time by intent more often from now on.

It appears that you made a good move, Neil!

Not my doing, Mike, but our daughters could have done a whole lot worse. They've been after us for several years to move in. Not very far in miles, but a long way in life-style.

The camera has been on the shelf for a month and a half as we make a slooow move from rural to urban living for the first time since college years. I stepped out our new front door this morning, and picked up the camera.

Very dramatic. I like your aggressive processing for this shot. The center, which is what I want to look at, really pops. Nicely done.

Thank you, Erich.
How did this thread, from so many years ago, get resurrected? I had forgotten all about it.

In the '40s and early '50s my Grandmothers sister's husband was a weatherman by profession and a amateur photographer who shot a Graflex camera. At family dinners on Thanksgiving, Christmas season, and Easter the males were in suit and ties, women wearing their finest, everyone standing behind the long dinner table, Mac would setup the heavy tripod, unpack the big Graflex camera, disappear under the black cloth and shoot five or six shots. One of his landscapes hung over our living room davenport. This was my introduction to photography. I bought an Ansco folding bellows camera at the local drugstore, on monthly payments, and managed to take one photo in B&W of the frozen over, snow covered lake with the sun glistening on it that hooked me on capturing things I found to be pleasant to look at. Funds were in short supply and the cost of developing and printing held me to minimal participation in the art. In year 2000 I was introduced to digital photography, and it took off on an increasing priority level. In the 20teens I was running out of space for albums and wall hangings and went into a local art gallery. Finally, this year, the income is running just enough ahead of the outgo to satisfy my ego and pocketbook. Quicksand, indeed!

My question also. I'm just kind of curious about what scenario would cause someone to edit the tif instead of the raw? Thanks!

Since you asked...because Lightroom 6 in my new computer does not have the RAW update for my Sony camera.
Still working on that issue.
