Do not worry, if Nikon is planing to beat Sony you will be able to use all your current Nikon glass on your mirrorless Nikon camera. If they do not allow that then they are doomed to fail in the mirrorless world.

I do not think that Nikon is planing to close the bakery anytime soon so I am sure they will either include a simple adapter to allow current Nikon users to use the old glass with the mirrorless cameras or sell it for $99 or less. But they will probably present a new mount or a modified F mount on their upcoming mirrorless cameras.

Nikon doesn't sell anything for $99 or less.

Did anyone answer the question about thick paper?

I knew I was forgetting something 😀
I've printed on Epson premium matt paper, which is 27lb, 4.9 mil with no problem. Also on card stock and Avery business card stock.

My Epson stylus 1400 just died. I've had it for about 10 years with no problems. I've been looking and reading reviews and I'm looking at the Epson Artisan 1430, which is the upgrade to the 1400. It has pretty good reviews but one problem is with thicker paper. Anyone use this printer? I'm also looking at the Epson surecolor 400. This is more expensive and has some clogging issues. Any recommendations? Want to stay with Epson.
Thanks, Sylvia

Sylvia,
I have the Artisan 1430 and I can tell you that it's a great printer. Our house flooded last year and I put it in the attic before we evacuated. It sat there for six months in the Louisiana summertime heat and humidity, not to mention all the dust created when we rebuilt the house. I took it down a couple of months ago, blew the dust out of it, ran the head cleaning cycle once and it prints like brand new.

Is that the Intuos Photo? You can use my email to reply: frangoucher@yahoo.com

It's actually called the Intuos Pen Small. Model# CTL-480/S

I have the Intuos small and use it with two 24" monitors. I have it mapped to a small section (about a quarter of the surface). I can easily go from the far left to the far right with just a wrist movement.

Does anyone shoot with the Tokina 11-16mm, f2.8, AT-X Pro SD IF DX autofocus lens? Do you like it? Is it compatible with the Nikon D5600?

I have that lens, and while it is a great lens, it is somewhat prone to flair. It will not autofocus on your D5600 as it does not have an internal focus motor, and the D5600 doesn't have a focus motor built in like the D7xxx and up cameras do. If you don't mind manually focusing I highly recommend it.

I pay once a year. That way I don't have to worry about it and they send a reminder when it's time to renew.

What about doing B/W in camera?

The only problem with that is that It limits you to jpeg output. If you shoot raw, it's better to do your conversion in post. You will have much more control.

Jakebrake: Got that Minolta SRT-101 off the bookcase, put some film it and use it. That goes for ever one else who has listed their venerable camera. Those cameras were made to be use, not to be put in a place to be look at. In fact those cameras people have listed if not use over time will become just 'wall hanger". As you can see I love film cameras (Pre 1980s ones). To me digital cameras are the same as kids plastic toys. Quinn 4

I agree. I currently shoot with a k-1000, Nikon F photomic, Nikon Fe, F3, and a Nikkormat Ft2.

There is no way anyone on here can tell you which monitor is correctly calibrated, chances are neither one is correct. Take burkphoto's advice that he offered above. :)

I doubt that you can without calibrating software. The Spyder that I use gives you a graph when it's done showing what percentage of sRGB, Adobe RGB, and ProPhoto RGB color gamut your calibration falls into.

I agree with Bill, I have two identical monitors and use the Spyder Pro. The colors are exact. I re-calibrate monthly.

You are right, I shouldn't have totally trusted the strap. I usually DO have one hand on the camera, but let go to get a chair out.

So when you are carrying your camera, you have the strap around your neck?

The sling strap goes over the left shoulder and crosses your body so that the camera hangs on your right side.

I also use the OP/TECH sling strap, attached to both eyelets when carrying and just the left side when actually shooting. Also, even with both sides attached, I rarely carry without one hand on the camera. I ruined one camera and have dropped two many guitars to rely solely on a strap.

That is what I would do. An 810 and a Df---very appealing.

Yes it is. I have a Df and would love to have a D810 to go with it.

Same thing happened to me on ebay. Selling an antique watch, was returned by buyer because, "it won't run." When I got it back, it hadn't been wound.

The clown probably looked it over, couldn't find the USB charging port and figured you were trying to pull a fast one.
