Thanks for the good suggestions.

I’ve begun by adopting an old-fashioned approach that some of you old-timers might recognize :>) — reading and following along with Adobe’s “Classroom in a Book”….

Being a video editing program where all the work and activity is on screen, I've found it a lot easier to watch the video classes I linked to earlier.

Adobe's books used to be very good and probably still are.

prbrandon, don't hesitate to ask questions here or by private mail. I can probably answer them.

I started learning video editing with Premiere Elements. It was cheaper and I learned fundamental video workflows. A couple years ago I decided to "move up" and started learning Premiere Pro and (to a lesser extent) Davinci Resolve.

Learning to make videos takes some work. It might make it worse to understand photography workflows!

If you open Premiere Pro, look at the help menu. There is a choice to launch "in-app Tutorials" and another choice is to watch "Online Tutorials". Adobe has invested in teach systems.

To back up the Adobe teaching system is the Adobe sponsored forums. A few hundred "experts" are part of the forum system and are there to help figure things out ranging from hardware to technique. (I'm one of them.) When you're confused or stuck, go there and ask for help!

YouTube can be as good as what you pay for it. Random jumping between techniques and tools will seriously cause frustration. That said, there are some well organized channels. One is Adobe's. They pay Valentina Vee because she is good at teaching and knows her stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLMdXC_B1vQ&t=719s

LinkedIn Learning should not be overlooked. Owned by Microsoft, there are well organized courses there. The first month can be a free trial and most public libraries provide access to card holders. This should be a good choice: https://www.linkedin.com/learning/getting-started-with-premiere-pro-for-the-non-video-pro-16384591/what-you-ll-learn-in-this-course

Interesting... I'm giving an "new Adobe AI tools" demo on Saturday to my retirement community's photo group. I'm wondering how much push back there will be from the reactionaries that are still wishing for SLRs loaded with Kodachrome.

I'm giving a demonstration Saturday to a photography group in my retirement community about the new and useful tools Adobe is providing in their newest software. With that coming up, your title was effective click bait. I read the article.

Did you notice the emphasis on words like "deepfake". The two developers were trying to show "worst possible". They put a smartphone in a fake camera box that sends it to cloud computing and back!

Manipulating or "developing" photos is part of, and as old, as photography itself.

I shouldn't be spending time reading junk like that let alone writing a response!

I use a pair of these with Goodsync software. It works well with little trouble.

Which? Many! They'll be using a different version of the program or a different modification of the Home screen.

Learning something new is supposed to be good for us. Just do it!

I've been using the Photo Shop editing option for years when using Lightroom (LR) in post - but suddenly that editing option isn't working, apparently not even available. My usual sequence is to right click on my LR image and select PhotoShop as the editing tool. Then PhotoShop takes over the computer screen and I'm able to do things like add my digital signature. Not working now. Has anyone out there experienced this?

I've not experienced that.

What happens when you select a photo in the Library module and press Ctrl+E? Normally, and on mine, it opens the photo in Photoshop without all the menus.

Which "online directions"? Whatever, you'll get it figured out.

Although this was done using an older version, it is very good at showing a simplified and streamlined workflow in Resolve. I used it in classes I taught last year in our retirement community. It got my elderly friends up to speed quickly! It shows exactly how to ignore the details and get directly to the flow of making a video. (It does not cover multi cam, but will get anyone going quickly.)

From what I've heard and read, the paid version wouldn't be necessary for me.

I misread when you wrote, "Thanks. I subscribed. DaVinci is complicated!". I thought that meant that you sent some of your scarce money to Blackmagic.

There are some amazing tools in the paid version, but for most of us they are not necessary. One is the voice enhancer. It will separate out and eliminate background noise from voice in an interview with a single slider.

It is interesting to me that Blackmagic gives away such complete software. Turns out that the CEO explains that it is for marketing reasons. Blackmagic is an equipment company. He wants everyone interested in video creation to know his company and products. To do that, he gives every video student what they need. He is succeeding at owning more videographer "mind space" than any other company, including Apple (Final Cut) and Adobe (Premiere).

Thanks. I subscribed. DaVinci is complicated! It's my understanding that it can sync two audio clips at a time, and then you can select another clip to be synched with that. I've had success synching sound using PowerDirector and the sound waves. Having the software do it would be better.

DaVinci can be complicated. But, within the nearly endless set of options and tools, there is an easy, direct workflow. For multi camera work, watch the YouTube I put in a couple posts back. It shows how you do put a sequence together with multiple cameras.

For others that might be reading this, Blackmagic does not use a subscription system for DaVinci Resolve. You either get a capable version for free or you pay $300 once for a more capable "Studio" version. Once paid, you get updates to the Studio version for as long as you want.

Being able to shoot at sky high ISOs has become more useful with the advance of noise reduction in post. I spent the weekend at a granddaughter's water polo tournament. A long lens and fast action required high shutter speeds. The best option was to set the highest ISO the camera allowed. A tripod would have been useless. All the images have a lot of noise, but with current noise reduction tools the images are good.

Syncing free run or time of day time code on all cams is the easiest way, then load them all in Avid as multicams

What is the easy way to get our multiple cameras to all have an accurately synced time of day or time code?
