The police in the UK, have no right to stop you taking photographs in a public place. Just be sure you are not on private land.
They cannot insist in looking at your images, taking the card or demanding that you delete images.
Over the last few years there have been over zealous officers who either do not know the law or think they are above it and they have ended up on the losing side.
Stand your ground don't be bullied into anything .

Thanks guys, I am on 400ISO , F5.6 and speed up to 2500 of a second. Thanks for the advice in regard to using a single focal point. I was using a cluster in the centre of the images, and high speed shooting in order to catch the best action of the horse and rider.

I am becoming increasingly frustrated at not being able to capture realy sharp images when photographing horses in motion.

for hand held this is a great image, agree tripods are the answer but it is what you like in the end.
