I have to ABSOLUTELY differ with you. That was DEFINITELY NOT the Sylmar quake! The '94 quake was the Northridge quake, centered over CSUN. I KNOW... My house in Northridge was only 3 miles from that epicenter!!!
The Sylmar quake was in 1971 and was a 6.6 shaker. I know because my house at the time was in Arleta, 10 miles from the epicenter of the Sylmar quake. The Northridge quake was a thruster.
