I've seen the film...that was amazing. Worst down here in SoCal that I've experienced was the Sylmar quate in '94...at 4am, and "only"6.9. We're still waiting for our 8.0! For the unaware; each tenth on the Richter scale is 10 times strength. i'll still take my chances with a quake
as opposed to hurricanes or living in tornado alley, you gotta be pretty unlucky not to survive quakes around here. Apparently you're willing to risk it, too, lol...

chas...
I have to ABSOLUTELY differ with you. That was DEFINITELY NOT the Sylmar quake! The '94 quake was the Northridge quake, centered over CSUN. I KNOW... My house in Northridge was only 3 miles from that epicenter!!!
The Sylmar quake was in 1971 and was a 6.6 shaker. I know because my house at the time was in Arleta, 10 miles from the epicenter of the Sylmar quake. The Northridge quake was a thruster.

It took only minutes for the conspiracy nuts to get going about the NJ/NY earthquake yesterday. I'm glad I finally experienced an earthquake, though. Every time I was in CA, I hoped that I would feel at least a tremor.

Earthquake is 4.8; eclipse is on 4/8. "It's a conspiracy. The government is up to something! God doesn't like the northeast!"

If you have to wonder why the world is in such a mess, it simple. Human beings are in charge. People are idiots! Look at how worked up people got over a tremor.

Hi Jerry, I'm glad you finally got to feel a shaker. It's not the best feeling or the worst, but I will say the '94 quake in Northridge, CA (my house was only 3 miles from the epicenter of that quake) was really bad...! How about waking up to find yourself 3 or 4 feet up in the air and then slammed down onto the bed. Believe me, THAT was no fun! LOL.

what you say is true, Jim, but still, it is a very good interpretation, and she is a good model.

The MTA is just a bottomless pit. People coming to the marathon via the other bridges and mass transit will more than make up for the Verrazzano being closed for a few hours. Perhaps if they went after fare and toll beaters they could shrink their deficit. But, alas, those crimes are not prosecuted in New York.

You are so wrong, rd...NOTHING in NYC is prosecuted any more! LOL.

Too close to the truth!

That is not close, that IS the truth!!! And, where do these batteries come from? You guessed it, CHINA. If we go total electric, all China has to do to cripple us permanently, is to cut off exporting batteries to the U.S.

No, I agree that electric is NOT the way to go at this time. We are, and I include the world, not ready for total electric.

You are correct. My wife forgets many things like, “I want to buy a Canon R3 camera”……Yet my wife always remember that six months ago, “I said that I would climb on a ladder and re-shingle the roof.” I don’t remember saying anything like that because we don’t have a ladder!

Women have selective hearing….Just remember that you were not selected!

Oh how true, how true!!!!!

Pet peeve department. I shave with an electric razor, and use a pre-shave lotion, which helps give a closer shave. There's a plastic plug in the top of the bottle with a hole to limit how much lotion comes out of the bottle. I recently bought a new bottle of the stuff, and noticed that they've made the hole a lot bigger. The result is that too much lotion comes out of the bottle, resulting in wasting a lot of it. That probably is driving sales up this year!

It's very simple economics.......The bigger the hole, the more product comes out...Half of which is wasted, so the more you use, the faster you use up the product the sooner you will buy more! And, that is the whole idea...use more so that you need to buy more, giving the company more profits off your hard earned money.

Forget the bridge abutments, why didn't the captain let go the anchor when he first realized the power was out all over the ship. THAT, would have stopped the ship in its tracks!!!
