So you were there again this year? My trailer was in the paddock right next to the Snack Shack. Although I titled this in the Hot Pits, you will notice that these shots were taken from the cold pits side. I added another leaning over the wall. Have you seen my other shots posted:

The only problem for me is that we were so busy during the actual 12-hr race, I was not able to get out and shoot anything at all. It is our best event of the year.

Do you work for a media outlet?
How did you get over the wall at Sebring?
Just curious?
Or do you have something to do with Genoa Racing?
First picture is of Javier Echeverria in ORECA-Courage FLM09
The second one is of the #063 car, also an FLM09
Nice photos too

Bob,
I have a coffee and ice cream concession trailer. We stay at Sebring from First of December until the 12-hr race in March. I actually just got home about 2 hours ago from there. I know a lot of folks at the track and once in a while they let me put on photo jacket to get better access. These were taken during winter test last year and actually anyone could have got these shots. Quite impressive that you could identify the drivers. I really need to document better. I take the first question as a compliment.

Yes, if you look close in the black area just below the names on shot 2 you can see some of the sky reflection. Also the hot pits at Sebring are shaded by the viewing stands from about 11:00am on.

You did say road trip. Taking it and not using it is far better than OMG why didn't I bring my 600mm!

BigDave,

I looked at your flickr photos. You have better shots there. The first two here would be more interesting with a better sky. Maybe an oncoming storm. Also you have to much clutter. Move in, get tighter, eliminate anything that doesn't add to the shot. I think you could have explored number two. Close-ups of weathered wood can make for some great compositions and texture.

Solution, print all three and make a nice grouping of them!
You can't make a wrong choice here. Three beautiful renditions.

Welcome Photog8,

With your experience I don't you'll have any trouble. A lot of folks here can answer the mechanical questions. You have a great advantage because you think photography, story telling, documenting history, ect. A friend of mine often reminds me that "Photography is the hobby, NOT collecting equipment."
Look forward to seeing your work and reading your critiques when asked by others. Give and take. That's what I see happening at this site.

Welcome,

Have fun, post often, encourage others, and you will learn more than photography.
