I came across this one this morning and tried a couple of shots. Let me know what you think. It was threatening rain and I had to chase it a while before it sat still for long enough ( Nikon7000, 105mm macro lens, Aperture priority f/16 )

An incredible demonstration of strength and balance - clearly I still have a lot of work to do on my technique. :-)

I have to really concentrate in Yoga-class to balance on one leg with the foot spread-toed on the floor ...en pointe on someone's head.??... too much too get my head around. The human body is just an incredible machine if developed at an early age.

Yes, I like the vibrancy of the colors!
Will you believe that I had to look up the order of the rainbow-colours...I couldn't remember them for the life of me..

I've done something similar to Glen (Through the eye of a needle), but didn't do the stacking bit. The brief was 'Rainbow'...and I used Cotton thread.

You know the saying : Owning a Nikon/Canon doesn't make you a photographer , merely a Nikon/Canon OWNER.

A man was driving down the road and ran out of gas. Just at that moment, a bee flew in his window.

The bee said, 'What seems to be the problem?'

'I'm out of gas,' the man replied.

The bee told the man to wait right there and flew away. Minutes later, the man watched as an entire swarm of bees flew to his car and into his gas tank. After a few minutes, the bees flew out.

'Try it now,' said one bee.

The man turned the ignition key and the car started right up. 'Wow!' the man exclaimed, 'what did you put in my gas tank'?

The bee answered,

Wait for it.wait for it..

You're just gonna love this..

The USA has a lot of nasty critters, but your Aussie critters are in a class of their own.
You're right ...we have some real nasties here. Always be careful and vigilant - even in your backyard with the Red-backed Spider that loves to make a home under the lip of the garbage bins.. gangrene-complications for sure.

Well done Oz, good focus and lighting. Interesting ant, looks like it is dehydrated, crinkled abdomen...
I didn't stop long enough to enquire about his health in general or his state of hydration in particular - he jumped (lucky for me!) over my shoulder into a bush behind me...never to be seen again. The lighting was a mere fluke, not because I am such a boffin. I wanted to make sure I see the ant and try an anticipate it's actions. I grabbed a LED-Light torch in my haste and that was my source.

This is a big ant - they grow to 40mm in cases. And the bite makes the smoke curl out of your ears for at least an hour.. They are vicious and would jump on you from a meter away if they perceive you as an intruder....which they usually do. I was sweating from fear when I gave this one a quick click..
