Before you sell your lenses ( I agree, if you keep just one, keep the 50mm) know that cameras other than Nikon have adapters to accept a Nikon lens. For example I have a Fuji Mirrorless and have an adapter so I can use the 50mm lens I used on a Nikon D7000.

Beautiful colors. Couple of suggestions for composition next time: I would prefer to know what the foreground object is. Here It looks like a person, but is it? Clone out the object along the right edge. Can you answer why you included it?

I have that printer - much older than yours. The only time I have experienced black streaks was when the ink cartridge needed replacing. I think mine were due to depleted ink, rather than leaking ink. I've had the printer cleaned once by a professional. It has generally performed very well for years.

Change the cartridge

Here is a sunset that I just found from a Google. Objects of interest that compliment the wonderful light. We can see details in the foreground. The tree on the left guides us to the background keeping us from the edges. Look at the lines created by the pier...etc....etc What does the boat add? Is there anything in the image that is distracting?

Okay a nice sunset of colors, but......the photo is "too busy". We see lots of boats, but only a lot of shapes we assume are boats because we cannot see them very well. Is that a person on the bench? I cannot tell for sure. Is that a pole coming out of his head? What is your subject? If your subject is sunset colors, what are all the other things in your image? If you have something of interest in your foreground, let's see it? Chip, it is great you were there. I know why you took this image, but how could you have made it more dramatic or interesting? Google sunset photos, study the ones that you like and ask yourself why you like them. Look at what is in the image other than the colorful sky. Let us see what the light is falling on in your scene. Please take this as constructive criticism to help you improve your sunset photos. You are off to a good start being so moved by a beautiful scene that you were inspired to take a photo.

A quick tip for editing RAW images. In Photoshop (and LR, too) there are "profiles" that give you different looks with one click of your mouse. In PS Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) you will see "Profiles" near the top of the column in Basic. The default is Adobe Color, but notice that is a Drop Down box with other choices including a Black and White option. But notice to the right, there is an icon of four small squares, two squares atop two squares. Click on that and many options of different looks will appear. Pass your cursor over each to see an example of the effect it will have on your image. You can choose anyone to your taste and your new image will jump back to the basic option where you can then add more changes with the sliders as usual. Later you can learn how to create your own Profiles. For example, you can create sunset looks which you can then apply to any image in the future. But, for now just play with the "profiles that Adobe provides. Easy one click processing!

Although I like high key photos (photos with blown out highlight areas), I think your windows loose color and detail by being too bright. Next time try bracketing your images to include an underexposure that would darken the walls, but also bring out more color in the windows. Then combine the images in post processing.
Your second image with the reflection is wonderful and nicely composed. That image makes me want to visit Salisbury!
PS Notice how the reflection in the top image has the window a bit darker and notice how the red pops out more than the red in the actual window.

Managing photos on your trip: Yes...download your SD card daily onto the external HD. Then reformat the SD card to use the next day. If you have 2 external drives, even better. You could also download them onto your computer, but you will be safer with at least 2 separate places where you are storing your photos. Use lots of folders identified with meaningful names making it easier to find the photos later. People take thousands of photos on African trips...good grief!
If you are editing in Photoshop, why use LR? Learn Photoshop as you go. You won't have to worry about two software programs. Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom Development are almost identical. When you start to edit RAW in either Photoshop ACR or LR whichever you use, start by clicking on the Auto button. You will have an excellent starting off point. Take note which sliders are moved away from their centers in Auto, then move them to the extremes to learn about the effects they are having on your image. It is easy and interesting. Be sure to play with the shadow slider! For contrast, check out the Dehaze slider which many avoid, Auto, too, but I like. Move Clarity and Vibrance. Remember to make the changes subtle in most cases, but you will be pleased with how small changes will improve your photos.

How do you like your hamburgers? A jpeg hamburger comes pre-cooked to medium. You can add spices, lettuce and tomato, but the burger will still stay at medium. Now, if you choose RAW hamburger right out of the package, you can shape the patty to your preference round or flat, then you can choose to cook it raw, maybe purple or pink. Maybe you prefer medium rare over medium, or, if well done, keep the meat slightly pink or maybe turn the meat into a hockey puck. The point is if you buy it raw (or shoot RAW with your camera) you can choose how YOU want the meat or your image to look.
Bottom line....keep photographing fun....but don't just take pictures, make photos. Unleash your creativity.

What a beautiful place and photos. Next time you are photographing flowers under a full sun, try using a diffuser. It will get more detail in the flowers and especially if they are white or red. They make pocket size diffusers, too. Iphones also work well in harsh light.
Here is a Maine photographer you should know about if you like photographing flowers: http://kathleenclemonsphotography.com/

Postcard shot.....Maybe it is the curve in the left side of the lighthouse that gives it the look of leaning to the left. The horizon is level as you have shown in your grid image.

#1 and #5 are my favorites because of the unique view and tower legs coming out of both lower corners of the frame resulting in a pleasing symmetry of composition.
