The holiday is Rosh Hashanah and it
starts tomorrow night at sundown. In my experience the B&H site allows browsing during holidays but the checkout does not accept transactions. This looks like something else!
They are all nice, but the astral shots are exceptional! I understand that what you wanted in the final print is for you to determine, but have you tried illuminating the foreground? I understand that a lot of folks don't like excessive use of pp, but have you tried a little "pre-processing" with some flashlights or remote flashes?
I subscribe, have done so for years. If you’re serious about photography and are used to spending money on new camera bodies and lenses, it really isn’t that much!
I am certain that B&H put a great deal of thought into how to retain their profit margin in a changing retail environment. All credit card companies charge a fee based on the dollar amount of the transaction. They generally charge about 3%. If B&H owns the credit card company, they save the 3% fee which partially offsets the sales tax. When someone carries a balance on their card, B&H gets to keep the interest they pay. Even if they don’t recover 100% of the sales tax, they have legally retained a customer and increased the chance that they will buy from B&H again. It’s the way smart businesses STAY in business!
When I made the trip a few years back, I had a crop sensor camera and used a full frame 70-300 lens. Many times, the big cats drew a crowd and longer lenses are a must. If you have an opportunity to take a hot air balloon ride, I suggest taking it! They fly early in the morning, so you can get good sunrise shots and the animals are usually very active. I suggest one shorter lens for landscape shots and one long lens for the cats. Sometimes you may be weight limited in the smaller bush planes, so travel light...

Not sure how you propose to do that on a CF card???
You are correct, I missed the CF. I googled cleaning CF card contacts and got a thread from UHH from several years ago-

Check the electrical contacts on the card. If they are not shiny, try cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. I read an article online that also suggests gently rubbing them with a clean pencil eraser after the alcohol.
MY mistake...the flash was listed as REFURBISHED, not used! I also read the fine print, and it said they were sold out but expect another one soon. Guess that was my senior moment...
I Googled “sb-300 speedlight” and Nikon still has some for sale for $149. Unless you have an issue with the price, that is definitely one way to go!
I just got back from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina and the fire has been out for centuries!
