I agree with most of the replies but I have to say that pse 11 is a great tool to use.
once you have it you wont regret it. you say you don't think you need it. I think you find out there a lot things you can do with it and wonder how you did with out it? at that price go for it.

I pretty much agree with tg1911 reply, Acer really does make a good system
motherboards but this one is not one of them. I would get a motherboard that supports a Intel i5 duo core or better yet an i7duo core processer.
With 8 gigs of ram. 1 terabyte video card with hi def capable.
An i3 proscessor wont be fast enough and it will try your patience.

When scanning old family photos - any suggestions on not to lose quality and how to edit to improve?

Hi there and Happy New Year, I have a Epson perfection V 500 photo scanner It works great ! It will scan film Bw or color. Its best to scan film negs.rather than the photo themselves. But if you cant do that, take the best photos you have and scan it at highest resolution possible. I dont know what program you are useing , what I use photoshop 7 It does a good job of enhance colors and cropping removing scratches ect.
I here that photoshop 10 is better If you have the money. If not try google
Free photo editing programs .

from what I can find out, They will not. Its possible that you can use an adapter. I do know Lens that work on minolta will work on Sony cameras.
