I used a D50 from 2006 till last week.
These are totally serviceable DSLR’s capable of producing good work.

Why a 50 mm lens for a cropped body unless you intend to use it for portraits? A 35 mm lens will give you with your D70s the approximate angle of view of a 50 mm lens if indeed you are after a field of view of such a focal length. A 50 mm. lens is more useful with a camera that has the full sensor of an equivalent 35 mm film camera.
If you have a Nikon camera whenever your budget allows stay with Nikon lenses.
It’s also a great lens for courtside basketball or other closeup sports shots where high shutter speeds and low ISO are needed.
On a DX setup it’s a rough equivalent to an FX 85 1.8 which is priced at a much higher level.
Never heard of the YP lens either.
My NIKKOR 50 1.8 AF is 20 yrs old at least and functions perfectly.
It is probably the sharpest, or certainly a top tier, NIKKOR lens ever.
It is small, light, fast, renders colors awesomely ... as well as all shades of gray in B/W ... and inexpensive.
I'm almost positive that the D70 can use the old school D ... as opposed to newer G ... version of this lens.
Those are commonly available in premium condition for around $100.00, and used NIKON/NIKKOR items don't scare me a bit as long as they function and aren't beat up. Kind of like buying a couple year old well maintained HONDA.
I switched from EPSON because of their customer no service department.
How'd that electoral defeat thingie work out?
I found this while searching for something else.
