Sorry but something seems amis in your shots...Arenal hasn't had a lava flow since 2008. Did you take that last shot and when?

That is not a flow. It's a snapshot of a movie we took of rocks tumbling down the mountain in 2/07

You are right - Costa Rica. One of the best vacations we ever took. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Dryart & ddum. I didn't like all the clutter from the cars and lights. But you're right, the scale tells a better story on the cloud formation. I just wish I had my Nikon D40x with me instead of the IPhone.

Nice. Did you use fill flash for the portico on the right?

I took this at Shiprock yesterday. I am new to UHH and photography, I have a Canon G12 Camera. This was on automatic and had to zoom in. Couldn't get near the "rock" because I was in car instead of 4 wheel drive. A beautiful day in New Mexico.

Not sure if the rock is red in real life or not. I punched up the contrast & definition a bit with Nik Viveza.

To get a print to match what you see on the monitor, I just kept working at getting it right, Wasted a lot of paper and ink fooling around with PS printer settings working with an Epson WF 1100. Unless you have all kinds of monitor balancing equipment and a high dollar commerical printer it's just trial and error.
Most of the time I get what I want but sometimes I don't, and I have to start fooling around again.
I don't know if this helps or not but I think that's what most everyone does.
To get a print to match what you see on the monito... (show quote)

I do my printing at Walgreen's, Mpix or Ritz Cameras. Thanks

It is a real nice composition and a good showing of the subject.

The real point here is that it's your creation and to display it the way you like is what is important. I say that photography is an art and this pictuer is art. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. How do you prevent your version of the shot from printing out too dark?
