Have you tried pulling the batteries? If I am letting a body set I pull the batteries and then reinstall.
I have the same lens asyou on 60D. Most would agree that lowest ISO the better. It is fuzz thinking to put on ND and then crank up ISO. Fuzzy thinking that we have done. Check to make sure you IS is turned on. That has got me a couple of times. I use UV on all glass I have a couple of filter that sacraficed theyselves to save glass.
Here is a time when I might shoot with those settings. A waterfall that I wanted to show motion with, but it needs rock solid stablivation, ie. tripod and cable release. On location I was told is not where to practice, but way to experience is through mistakes that we remember.
Thanks for showing us, thanks for your transperency, and thanks for the leason and cofirming what I rember when I rember it.
I have had the pleasure of shooting most of the Rebels Starting with Xsi. Currently am carrying T2i and 60D. I also would jump you up 60D or 7d. I have friends that use both. But how could you do this as price is an issue. I believe also as been pointed out refurbished my be the most cost effective way to go. Cannon just before Christmass had deep discount on their product. Get on Cannon's mailing list keepwatching their web site. I want to add a full frame. I would like 5D 2, that camera hasbeen $1407.00
I don't have the open to buy at this time. I am on a limited budget. Hell we all are if trueth be told. It's alway good to have a warchest. I am currently trying to buy a macro for spring flowers.
You currently have a quality body, keep on shooting and someting at budget will turn up!
Harvey,
What a great story. My first DSLR was the Xti, it is a great camera. I have a rather cobbled together kit, but it means alot to me.
I envy you your joy and the flowers. Here in the Rockies we had snow last night.
Show off your new captures!
You have some good advice. You failed give the camera that you are using. It might be a Rebel. The 18-55 canon isn't that bad of a lens. I have one. It is equal to 28.8-88 full frame.
My experience and aplication is that keep everything off your lens exept quality filters ND & CPL.
You have some great contry like I. Explore it, document it. Use what ever the tools at your desposial.
I have in addition to 18-55, 18-135 and 70-300 non L.
Always more wants.
I hope to be shooting in your area soon.
Currently useing 60D, T2i, T1i soon to be sold, previosly Xti.
Next up 5D 2
Brenda, I don't know what to make of your request. I am an old film guy that quit years ago didn't think that I would ever pick it up again. I wa gifted equipment. I have been all over the moutain capturing the moment. And whe I didn't feel like it I took pictures of the clould or anyting that I could.
And oh yes I also have fibro(forty plus years}. I always try to be solution based. I would not feel comfortable send anyone my files. What I would suggest is you try a photo club at home. Contact aphoto store. Most consider our selves as artists.
Good luck keep shooting and keep moving
So why don'twe see a picture of your daughter smack in the middle?
Just shoot kathy, let your your minds eye direct. We learn, or at least I hope I do as much from my mistakes as I do from myperfections if any. It's sbout that relastionship! J. R.
Canon has made a couple of models xxD"a" i believe 30D,40D, but not 50D. I believe that one of the filter has been removed on the "a" model. I can take great star photos with my 60D. I don not do Astro so most people like me this would be inappropriate. It is my understanding that the 60D & 60Da have the same sensor also so shared by T2i, T3i& 7D.
Try the 60D with the verticle battery grip. It so much improves the balace. It is like that on all of the Rebels as well as the XXD, XD produces.
Canon at Christmas had great prices on refurbished 60D. Keep watching, but keep shooting.
You do not say what you have been shooting. I also use Canon. I believe that cost per value is great. I would also use some other brands, but was given a XTI a couple of years ago. I have since used all of the Rebels plus 60D & 7D I currently have 60D & T2i. I hope you are aware that T2i, 60D & 7D has all the same sensors. I can do everything with the @ that I can with 60. I am in S. E. Idaho. My shoots seem to be Landscapes, action. I have noted I now travel with short lens on 2 and tele on 60. I can work 60 quicker.
I have friends that shoot more bodies than I have (Full Framw.) They use FF for landscapes and croped to increase reaach of tele. And more than one has falled back to 60 for ease of use over the 7D.
Suprising to me the fact that the articulatibg screen has little value to me. I still shoot like35mm days.
I am retired and money is an issue! Look for refurbished factory special or low use used equipment. It sounds like you are buying wisely. J. R.
Rember, whats the point. Photo shoots are for me. For me to take photos of what I love. I am grandfather also. When I have the kids it's all about them.
If you are like me you will never regret phot of kids interacting with what ever we are doing. You have some great equipment. If possable take it all, but stay light and flexable. Get the interaction of the kids.
My back yard is Yellostone and Grand Teton Parks. I have never regreted the picture of family interacting with nature and I believe that I have gotten some great shots that were focused on just the nature because of this.
Good shooting and allways have fun! J. R.

I am a senior shooter from 35mm days. I stopped and was given digital equipment. I have almost every rebel body and a 60D. I have only had 5 lens, 18-55, 55-250, 18-135 & 50mm 1.8. All were gifts. I had no chose in what I received.
I too like to shot, stuff, & people. I live in South East Idaho. Lots of teaching pros come here for seminars, so its my own fault if I can find something to shoot. I also lust for the. Titanium Idol,
Now to answer your question! I like your equipment. The 60 is awesome, 18-135 is a prize at any price, nifty 50 read what has been said. So you got a grand burning a hole! For me with limited money and lots of time, I looked an tested.
Summers Canon runs a program called Canon in the Parks. I went To the Yellowstone and to Grand Teton. I was able to use the entire different lens side by side. Long story short I now own the canon 70-300mm non L picked it up from Canon for $260.00. Its been a great lens! It is refurbished. Other items I am looking at are, Sigma 150-500, 85mm 1.8, 100 macro or 60mm macro.
Hey what about the tires! We are so up for the shine, the sound, the cool factor. I am talking TRIPOD! I know Ken Rockwell but I also like long exposed files.
I know how good Canons IS system is but I use a tripod currently an old Veblon legs with a trigger ball head until I can figure what I want.
I short I would look for a deal on 70-300mm Canon and hold money in reserve!
I truely lokk at myself as gifted! Thanks for the road back to creativity.
Good Shooting!
