Very true DB. This could have a lot of different applications in life. It's afterall, how satisfied you are with the end result. Have a wonderful day.

Like you, i knew it was the one for me also. I don't want to be critical of anyones choice here, whatever works for you, that's the one to buy. I will say however, i have learned from much reading and listening that the megapixel 'Fixation' can sometimes be confusing and mind blowing.

Let me try to give my two cents worth on this subject, o.k?
After much reading and studying the real benefits of 6,10, 12, 18 or even higher MP's, it's sort of like this.

I have a job to be done, o.k? I have only a limited amount of space for my workers to do the job, let's say maybe just for figures sake, 100 square feet.

O.K., now i have the option to hire 18 workers or let's say 12 workers. I hire 18 workers and they only operate at 75% efficiency and they are bumping into each other because they have no room to do the job, they get frustrated and just say to hell with it resulting in a poor completion and a very unhappy customer.

Now i hire twelve really good workers, same amount of space. These guys get the job done, i mean they are very proficient, carrying their own weight, each one doing his job with precision.

I end up with a beautiful job, a happy customer and above all else, i'm happy too.

I hope this don't sound too juvenile or maybe even stupid. I'm just trying to make a point here. If you're fixated on high megapixels thinking because "more is better" then my friend, don't be mislead by marketing ploys!

I was for a long time until i started reading,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,reading a lot!!!!!

I was to begin with only to find out the 'simple' truth about this issue. Yes, i will agree that if you're going to do Wall Size Prints and you are depending on this for your main source of income as a pro photographer, then maybe then and this is only a maybe at this point, you may benefit from higher MP's.

I have my D90 with it's so very limited 12 MP's and i am so very happy with it. Just my two cents worth here on this subject to maybe help a fellow photo nut such as myself. I would be glad to give my three cents worth, or maybe even eighteen cents, but honestly i dont think average photographer could tell the difference, lol!

+1 for jplofvt's reply. I could swear this was my post and not his. I picked up the D90 in the store and was hooked. I've owned Canon previously, 20D, 40D, 50D and various lenses including some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 'L' lenses.

The bottom line here is not Brand that matters i don't think. They both have their plus, minus. I think in the end, it's what you're happy with and what fits your needs and wants.

After getting back into Photography this time, i shopped and read for hours, days, months on end till i went nuts, well not really but thought i was sometimes.

I decided this time to go to "The Dark Side" as it is called on one of my forums i visit. I may be disappointed tomorrow, but for today, i am totally happy with my D90, 18-55VR, 55-200VR combo.

You know what i think it was that sold me on the D90 above all the positive comments? It was the feel of it in my hands and the smoothness of Nikkor lenses as opposed to Canon lenses.

Figure out what you want and need in a DSLR and make your choice. I honestly think though the D90 is all i'll ever need and more probably. I am totally happy, and if you knew me, that is a really strong statement.

I actually went to bed some nights pondering this one. I finally just said to hell with it, pulled the trigger on the D90 and am now at rest, lol!

Please forgive me if i'm missing something here, but it sounds like you have an 'overlap' issue and not a 'gap' issue.

I have the D90, 18-55 VR and 55-200 VR. No gap, no overlap. Sounds like you may need a lens starting at 55 instead of 28.

Has anyone had any experience with the D90 and the Sigma 50-200 OS? I'm a little skeptical of the lens because of the low price. Maybe someone has some photos at different focal lenghts they could post here?
