What about noise with the BSI sensor? Is it less or more than either CMOS CCD.

Is there any difference in recording speed of these sensors?

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I don't know which is best so I thought I would try it and see what others think of the results. BTW the covered bridge was taken by my first SLR which I bought used on a trip. I knew nothing about SLRs and lenses and did not know there was fungus on the lens. All my pictures turned out to have this misty look. I kind of liked it on some pictures.

Beautiful photo. The little boy stands out as though it was a 3D picture.

My second post. For kicks, I tried taking pictures of old film photos using a digital camera. I would like to hear what the all you photographers think about this.

I'm real new to UHH and to digital photography. I know I have a lot of learning to do. One of my first questions is which sensor is better CCD or CMOS? I read somewhere that CCD sensors are probably better but costs more to make but that CMOS is improving. They said that Nikon stayed with CCD for a long time but now use CMOS sensors. Anyone know anything about this? As I said, I am new so I apologize if I am bringing up something that has already been discussed to death.

Thanks for the kind words about my Lake Superior shots. That was my first post. I see I put the first photo in twice. Also, I can't find the post in the gallery anywhere. I must have done something wrong. Could you tell me where you found these pictures? Thanks again. -- Frosty

I recently found these old pictures (slides) and had them digitized. I took them in 1976 using a Canonet QL 17 range finder camera. They are from Gooseberry State Park on the north shore of Lake Superior. The icicles are from waves splashing on shore and not from rain as it was 4 or 5 degrees below zero that day. There was a very windy storm the previous day and as so often happens here, after a storm, we get clear skies and the bottom drops out of the thermometer

Hi, I am not a photographer, I'm just a picture taker. I have used a Canonet QL 17 (I plan to post some old pics from it soon), a Pentax MX (my favorite), a Pentax P3 and a Canon A-1. My eyes finally told me I need auto focus, so I got a Canon T2.

Finally I decided to go digital. After much thought I decided I did not want to carry a SLR and lenses around any more. I wanted some control over the camera and I wanted a viewfinder, so I settled on a Canon G 12. Below (if I do this right) is a picture of a 100 year old picture of my mother. I took this picture of a picture with the G 12.

I am looking forward to posting some pictures for critique and expect to learn a lot from all of you very knowledgeable and experienced photographers

Finally, it's long over due, but I want to say to the Viet Nam vets on UHH: "Welcome home"

The original picture was taken in 1912
