I just wonder how much eye damage has occurred from people looking at the eclipse without glasses, or improper glasses. Sometimes the damage doesn't manifest itself for a time. I would bet that there is quite a bit. If this is the damage that happened to lens' and cameras, I can only imagine the eye damage.

I had to reinstall both Photoshop and Lightroom CC today after both failed to open and froze my laptop. The PS download worked fine, but LR stopped at 72 percent. It was on the machine and openable, but it was the 2015 release, not 2015.4 and the features, especially dehaze, that come with the later updates to 2015. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get the latest release through CC?

Thanks,

gc

If you have adobe CC why don't you call adobe? That is what you are paying for?

I got these same ones from Amazon, on time for the Total Eclipse viewed from the lake place in Anderson SC. They worked fine as did the filter for the Kid Telescope I got, both generated emails from Amazon stating that the vendor could not produce proper documentation as to meeting the ISO spec.
If you cannot see anything through the glasses unless looking at the sun then they are good to go.
We had a wonderful experience cant wait until 2024 to do it again. will have to travel this next time though!

Wait! You get a letter from Amazon saying that the glasses they sold you don't have the proper documentation to say that they are safe to use and you go ahead and use them anyway?

This is very useful information. Explains the difference in viewing and photographing the eclipse.

That is one of the dumbest articles that I have seen about the eclipse. Why? The very last sentence.
"Above all, don’t forget to put your smartphone down and enjoy the eclipse with your own eyes!"

Duh!!

What has not been divulged, is what would they arrest the photographer for? It would be interesting to hear that.

Also, everyone here is giving legal advic
e and I see that no one has JD after their name. The OP should have consulted with his atty instead of asking a bunch of lay people here.

The value of all these service dogs is amazing, but then you consider what they do. They are well worth it with the lives they save or the drugs they remove from the street.

OK, maybe I get this wrong, but that article said the study was in the UK not here in the USA.

I did a quick Google (do to an upcoming appt) and could not find information on where we get our German Shepherds. I did see articles where they were donated, etc. Can you point me to an article that shows were we buy them from?

A lot of the K-9's are Belgian Malinois dogs. Similiar looking to a shepard but a totally different breed.

$8000 - $10,000 for a dog! Our tax dollars and to make it worse, it goes over seas? If they can't trust American breeders, then why doesn't the government breed them or secure some reliable breeders in America? That's outrageous to be sending American tax money over seas like that when it can be easily avoided.

The dogs in my area are paid by the money and property seized in a drug raid. No tax dollars spent for the purchase and maintenance of the K-9 program. I am sure that most municipalities do the same thing. So your tax dollars are safe.

Jerry, I agree that these dogs are unique and beautiful. I am a volunteer at my local police department and get to see the K-9's on our force regularly and also see their demo's. These dogs when chasing a criminal can go about 35 MPH and get to that speed in the first 40 feet. We just retired two of our K-9 dogs. New ones are in training. When the recover drugs and criminals, the department, gets to keep money and property, like cars and such. These two dogs recovered over a million dollars each during their working time. The money recovered, pays for their keep and such. One thing is their cars. They are special made squads. The back seat is their home. The squad is designed to maintain temp at all times the dog is in it. Yes even if not running. If it gets over a certain temp inside, the car starts and the air goes on. If it gets too cold, the heat goes on. There is also a device the office carries that sends him a warning should this occur. Also, that device provides protection for the officer. If the officer is in a situation and needs help, he hits the button on his remote, and the rear passenger door springs open and the dog comes out looking for his master. The technology and training these dogs have is amazing. Yet, I see them walking around with the officers, and visiting with people. The people and kids pet them and they are just like puppies, they lay down, roll on their backs so you can pet their tummy.
If you ever get to see a K-9 demo, watch the dog's tail. While he is attacking a person to stop them, their tail is wagging. Why because they are happy. They know that they have done their job and now get their toy. So they are happy. Just amazing animals who I would not want mad at me. LOL

In fact, Nikon sells the Black Rapid straps on their web site, for their DSLR camera lineup, and state the connection is for the tripod socket. Sort of approves it use eh?

Keep in mind, Nikon is there to sell cameras, so when the tripod socket pulls out, there is a good chance you will need a new camera. LOL.
