Thanks Len - will do on the airshow photos. I used to do a lot of free diving when I was in the Navy. I founded a club called the Sandhogs. We used to practice during the week at the Pearl Harbor base pool and then go out spearfishing on the weekends. I love air shows. My friend Bob Hoover was one of the best performers ever!

Well then, now you have the time to start shooting your own, right? Looking forward.....

Yes, I am busy trying to again acquaint myself with the principles of photography and especially learn the myriad of features on my Canon T3i - things have changed considerably since I was shooting tri-ex and doing my own developing. I did brave one trip to the local park not having a clue what I was doing, but in auto mode, I was able to get this shot, although it assuredly is not ready for prime time! :)

Thanks Rich, I really have a great collection of shots unfortunately taken by others much more talented than I will ever be! :)

God love ya.....I'm not sure I would go out of a plane...even with a push!!! Enjoyed flying in them though. Thanks for all your years in the air, and getting people to their destinations safely. I live on the coast of NC, and each year for the past 4 years when I flew, I made scallop shell angel Christmas ornaments, and gave them out to all the flight crews. I am sure by now my little angels are all over the country.

What a wonderful gesture! :) Flying for Eastern, I of course spent a lot of time flying through the Piedmont have spent an enormous amount of time flying through and laying over in that wonderful state of NC!

Welcome. That is one very intense photo. Looks like you were really focused. By the way, with regard to you skydiving....didn't they teach you pilots to stay IN the plane? :-D :-D Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

I guess Ideally, staying in the plane is probably the safest approach. I flew for Eastern airlines for 25 years and when they went out of business in 1991, I decided rather than fly airplanes, I would take a new tack and jump out of them. I took the sport up at the advanced age of 55 and have 657 jumps and 12 hours and 40 minutes of freefall time. You know the old saying, Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" I changed it a bit to, "Why fly a perfectly good airplane when you can jump out of it!" :)

Welcome from another Floridian! I'm in Zephyrhills. You will find this to be the best and most educational forum on the web.

I shot the Florida Cyclecross Championships last January in Dade City. Did you compete there?

Cool! That is not only a great spectator sport, but a sport that has some great shooting potential - especially on wet, muddy days! :)

I am the current state and national time trial champion, but I have no desire to run around carrying my bike! :)

BTW, I used to skydive in your neck of the woods!

Mogul, of course I was not aware of the phenomenon you described when it seemed that I was under attack for simply posting on a forum that I had just joined.

Prof, that's probably what I will do if a buyer does happen along - I simply have no room for this large printer. The only place that I could reasonably put it is taken up by my HP Officejet which does the printing work on the home network.

And thanks to all of those who have welcomed me aboard. I am mostly reading and learning.

I did note a post on the Zimmerman trial which I have been closely following, but after reading some of the replies, I decided that I am here for relaxation - not to get my blood pressure elevated! :) I can't understand the need for those type of conversations on hobby-type forums. We are inundated enough with political BS in our lives.

I do appreciate your interest, but let me see if someone might come along that can just pick it up.

I'll give you $100. for it if you ship it to Canada. I'll pay for the shipping.

Geegee, I would sell it for $100 but in that I have thrown away the original box, it would be a real hassle to prepare it for shipping, but thanks for the offer. If anyone is interested at $100 who can pick it up, you have a deal.

Interesting - I did not realize that in that I got the rebate which required the purchase of a Canon DSLR on the same invoice. Didn't realize that they had that kind of rebate for a stand-alone printer. I guess I will just keep it and hope that I produce something worth making a 13x19 print!

Thanks Duane - I wish I would have taken it, but it is the cover shot for my book, "From Broken Neck to Broken Records, a Masters Cyclist's Guide to Winning."

Thanks for the many welcome messages gang! I'll just be hovering about trying to learn something and enjoying the pictures of members.

I am a retired airline pilot living the good life in Florida. I was an avid photographer as a child and had my own darkroom. I returned to the hobby when I was based in NY in the late 60s taking the School of Modern Photography course in professional photography under the GI bill. I eventually left the hobby and returned for a few years in the 90s. Other than taking snap shots with my point and shoot camera, and some astro photography with my two telescopes, I have been out of the hobby until last week when I purchased my first DLSR, a Canon T3i.

My main photographic interest is nature photography. I also enjoy photographing people and unusual scenes.

I am an avid bicycle racer and current age group national champion.

I find it interesting that you would jump on a new member simply because I am new to the forum. I joined the forum to learn something and as I perused the topics, I noted that there was a classified section so I decided to use it. I was not aware that there was a mandatory delay for use of the classified section.

Thanks for the warm New York welcome! :(

I have a brand new Canon Pro-100 professional photo printer that has never been used. I received it at the end of last week. The only thing I have done with it was to install the ink tanks and printer head. It has yet to used to print anything or even accomplish a head alignment. It includes a sealed package of 50 Canon Luster 13x19 photographic paper. The printer sells for $419 and the paper $60 at B&H. All yours for $150. This is a pick-up only deal in Seminole, FL. I threw the box out. I simply have no room for the printer. I do okay financially in that the printer was part of a package deal and part of the reason I got rid of the packaging was the need to send in the UPC code including the cardboard backing - not just the sticker. If interested, call Sandy Scott at 727-319-3624.
