I think what you're referring to is the aspect ratio of digital cameras which is 2x3, 4x6, etc. However, this was exactly the same aspect ratio of 35mm film which was traditionally enlarged to 8x10 instead of 8x12. This always resulted in the cropping of 2 inches of an 8x12 to make it an 8x10.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I own both and think both are great.
I'm sure there are folks that are more passionate in their opinions but I haven't seen a difference.

I would bet that using nine year old film is the problem. Although frozen, the film might hold on to it's viability, you don't know how this was stored. The second one looks like fogging which could also be defective film. My only suggestion is to shoot a new roll and see what happens. It doesn't look like a camera issue.

I use MPIX to print, mat and Frame. The frames look great. As to the price, remember that you're selling art. The price to begin at should be three times your cost but it's art and if you're good, you're good and the client needs to pay for it. There are no limits on price other than what you can get someone to buy it for. If you give it away at a bargain price, you will perceived as not being good enough to charge more.

Gee, a Mother and Daughter disagreeing on something. I'm shocked!! Okay, so my take on this is it depends. I prefer candid shots of kids and find that in the long term, those are the ones that you'll cherish the most. If it were a portrait, yes I'd have a wrangler there making sure everything was perfect but the truth is I have two granddaughters, and I take literally hundreds of pictures of them every year and although some are posed, none are formal. Do yourself a favor and put your camera on continuous mode and shoot in bursts. It will increase your chances of getting that perfect candid.

I had one. It stopped working about three years ago. At the time I got it was a lot more acccurate than the built in meters that were in cameras of the day (Like 1980). Today, i find the meters in my cameras are spot on and if mine still worked, I probably wouldn't use it much. It was pretty straightforward with both incident and reflected capability. I'm not sure what questions you have, but I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Dirtpusher,
I've been in a union and I've been part of management. I can tell you that the best justification for why unions exist is looking at the way corporations treat management. Six and seven day weeks, 12 or more hours a day without overtime and now since the economy went sour, pay reductions along with benefit losses without negotiations. All this while C Suite builds their coffers.
Just my opinion.

I agree that you're going to need a wide-angle in your bag. Not only for groups but for cramped quarters and/or for artistic reasons.

Maybe Rudy should just switch his party affiliation...just a thought.

Rudy is a New Yorker as am I and we have a different view of the world. In the midwest he might be a liberal democrat but in New York he's a moderate. I'm not saying we're right or wrong but we are noticeably different.

Electric cars aren't ready to replace the internal combustion engine yet but given the right research and development they are the wave of the future.
I attend most of those secret meetings that the left has, (no i can't tell you where)and all the conspirators are quite clear that they don't want people to stop driving their cars as it would totally bring down the economy. This is especially true of China because the monthly payments would be late and they'd have to repossess the great lakes.

I shoot near salt water and haven't taken any addittional measures to protect it, and it hasn't shown any problems yet. As to getting saltwater on it, never happened to me, either intentionally or otherwise other than a little spray on a windy day and I clened it with a damp micro-fiber cloth.

Laugh if you will but he's probably right. Here we are in the 21st Century with a host of problems and the debate is over whether gay people should be allowed to get married and if women should be forced to get transvaginal ultrasounds. That may play to the Republican base but in a general election they're losers.
What happened to,"It's the economy stupid!".
I also agree with him that you're going to see a third party that will take the position of the republican moderates which will most likely outnumber the extremes on both the left and right.
