Is it worth it? Depends on how much you value the material and how much time you have to dedicate to the scanning process. I have a Minolta Dimage ll scanner that scans 5 slides at a time. It is not the fastest scanner in the world, only does 35mm, but the results are, at top resolution, very good. Last I saw it was going for about $100. Google: Minolta film scanner. Other option is to send them out to a commercial reproduction firm but, they are spendy.

Apple has a website to teach people new to photography a few basics about aperture, focus, speed, etc. Looks like it is meant mainly for camera-phone users but it could apply anywhere. What can you lose for $.99.

I used the clone tool in Photoshop Elements 12 only.

I simply used the "distort" tool (edit, transform, distort) in PS 7.0 to pull the right side of the picture to the right. Fantastic shot, by the way!

Primes rule!

I used to think so until I compared my 35mm F1.8 Sony SAM with my Sony Zeiss 16-80 set at 35mm. The Zeiss was noticeably sharper at all aperatures. I'll keep the 35mm for low light use.

Hmmmmmmm. I just oped both files again in PS and they are now the same size???? I'd have to agree with most of the other posters ....., neither of the picture(s) are of good enough quality to base a decision on.

The first one measures 4120 x 3024 pixels and the second one measures 600 x 440. Unless you deliberately changed the size, I'd say #1 is the bigger sensor camera.

I've been meaning to log onto this forum for some time and finally pulled the trigger. Currently using a Sony a580 with the Zeiss 16-80, Sony 35 f/1.8 and the Minolta 70-210 f/4 macro. The 16-80 gets the majority of the use when traveling. I shoot 99% RAW and use Sony's RAW processor then into Photoshop 7.0 for final tweaking.

I love extension tubes, often preferring them to my macro lens. Take your time, add a loupe or a right-angle finder, and a ring flash (Inexpensive, LED ring lights work great.), and you'll have a ball. Oh, one more thing, shoot off of a tripod.

Does anyone still use a bellows for macro work? It acts like an infinitely adjustable extension tube. I had one years ago on which I used a reversed Nikon 24mm f/2.8. Incredible image capability but the usual lighting and depth of field problems.
