Sorry...should read: SJCAM. Subconscious slip??? :)
Anyway, I researched a lot before pulling the trigger. The video is better with the GoPro..sometimes, and other times the SJ4000 is better. Again, for the money, you cant go wrong with the SJ4000.
One note though..if you get the SJCAM SJ4000, do not upgrade the firmware. No need and many have bricked their camera because it was done wrong. The only reason I would upgrade firmware is if they came out with a true 60 fps.

GoPro vs. SCAM SJ4000 action video camera.
First let me say I love buying products made in the USA. But then how many cameras are made here?
I wanted a Go Pro, but it was just too expensive for something that might fall off my motorcycle or kayak. So I did my usual research and found the SCAM SJ4000 action camera.
Here is my 2 cents worth. I love my SJ4000. It has a small LCD screen so I can see what settings to use and to frame it correctly when mounting. It is a Chinese knock off. Unfortunately for US and GoPro, overall, it may be better. I say that because it comes with all the attachments to include the waterproof housing. I paid $108 USD, and the equivalent GoPro would be around $600 with all attachments. It says it takes video in 1080P 60 fps. In reality, it is 30 fps doubled. I have tried all settings and not much difference. To save space on my microSD card; up 32 gig,I just set it to 720p at 30 fps. Video from my motorcycle looks fantastic. I have not watched on a large screen TV, but on computer screen, it looks great. I tweaked the settings according to a very good review:

I also love the free app for my Samsung Galaxy S5. It is WiFi and I can make all changes in the settings and use it as a monitor if away from home. It has motion detection too.
Got mine on Amazon so if it had problems I could return it. Didn't have to!
It tickles me to read about "Beware of the copies of the SJ4000's", when the SJ4000 is a copy of the GoPro!
If you go to China, do not stand still..you will be copied!

I cant speak for United, but contents is more of a TSA requirement, not airline. I do know that at my local airport if you tell TSA what is in the case, they will do a physical check as long as it meets the size requirements. They will accommodate expensive fragile items. You may have to insist, but if done politely, they will comply. Once they open the bag and see photo equipment, you should be okay...after they tear it all out and check it!! :)

Got my SRT-101 in Japan on the way back from Viet Nam in '72. Had the 1.2 55mm lens, with case. Also bought a Tamron 85-205 manual zoom with case, a 2x converter, filters, leather camera bag, and a flash. Paid a whopping $220. Unfortunately, most was stolen, but had the camera with me!
My son has it and takes B&W photos. Still hanging in there. Good to know if the battery goes, it can be replaced.

I bought the Minolta SRT101 when leaving Viet Nam. Had a Yashica Electro 35 before that. The 101 had the 1.2 lens and I loved it. Took some wonderful pictures. The metering system was soooo easy! I gave the camera to my son who uses it for B & W pictures. The battery died. Glad to hear about the battery replacement. Another reason why this forum is the best!
Merry Christmas everyone!
