I question the above statement! Which 100 are you speaking of? Macro non L -410 USD non macro f2 -300 USD. Not to be argumentative just accurate. I have several FD lenses. I don't buy an adapter as I think that I may be wasting money that I don't have. If someone would like to buy these FD's please PM me. Good shooting to all! "JR"

At KEH you can get a bargain grade Canon brand for $79 and an EX for $119 today. Both may be gone tomorrow.

Light leaks and sticky shutter are all that I have heard about. A lot of use may fix the shutter. The light leaks can be fixed with a foam replacement kit. It is easy to do if you take your time and do a complete job in cleaning out the old foam.

After development it is a normal negative. If you can see images on the negative then it should print. Black on the paper means no light. I would keep adding time to the paper exposure until you get a good print. All this is assuming you have made prints and developed negatives before and understand the film to print process.

I have an Epson V700 Photo scanner I got from Epson, refurbished. I use the Epson software on Win XP. The scanner works far better than I ever expected. It makes an enormous file from a 645 negative when scanning at 2400 DPI. It can go up to 9600 DPI. I am printing with a Canon Pro9000 MK ll. The Canon software also runs on XP. What little post processing I have done with Gimp. I mainly look to get a full dynamic range print. Paper white to black. Burning and dodging I have not learned to do yet with Gimp. I have a Canon AE1 and a Mamiya 645 1000S. The AE1 I bought new in 1977 or 1978. The Mamiya I got last year. I regret not getting one back then.

What scanner do you use to scan the negs ? I use to use a canon scanner that scans prints and negs but my newer pc doesnt allow it to run on windows 7 .Tried getting a new driver but canon doesnt have one & plans not to have one in the future. Seems like everytime you buy a "new" piece of equipment it becomes obsolete in a few months

Most text printers have linux drivers. My Samsung ML2510 needs an extra free translator. My Canon Pro 9000 needs Turbo Print. This costs $40.00 and works with a lot of other printers. Most all things computer have linux drivers. Most of the mainline Distros have installers like Yum and apt-get that take care of special driver and software needs. I have been using Linux for about 20 years and it has most if not all I could ever need for free or for money in some cases. My Epson V700 scanner needs Vuescan also for $40.00 For another $80.00 I am getting Crossover from Code Weaver that allows Win XP programs to run on Lunix, better than Wine. A lot of Linux Distros have live DVD and CD versions you can use without installing. And No I own no Linux related stock. It only took "yum install darktable" to download and install Darktable and the same for Gimp. Any questions?

If you are using Fedora yum install darktable is an easy way to get it. I just did.

On all the film SLR's I have ever seen, the viewfinder cannot have any impact on metering or the actual exposure. The mirror protects the exposure and the metering.

I also downloaded your image, but went a little different than Searcher. I increased the resolution by 10% about 10 times till I got it up to 205 PPI. From there I increased the size up by 10% a few times till the height was at least 24". Then cropped it to a 24x36. Zooming in on the original download I noticed that there was some harsh lines around the outline of the couple, her glasses, and their fingers, so once the photo was the correct dimensions I used the paint brush to blend those areas to a normal tone. I ended up with a 109 MB file, but the photo appears to be really good with no pixelation, and very sharp. I did not try to print any of it out, but I believ e you will be thrilled with the poster when it gets done.

That is truly remarkable. I am impressed.

I want an all purpose printer that is mvery good with photos. I cannot afford a speciality photo printer. Any suggestions? John

The Canon PRO 9000 is available for under $200 if you look for it. It is just a printer. No scanner. or anything else.
