I was born in Evansville! :-D
I grew up there and most of my family still lives there, I moved to Bloomington.
I'm new also and seeing where you are from (I live in Bloomington), who knows maybe we will run into each other some time. Welcome fellow Hoosier.
I took my first photos with a brown plastic square Kodak Brownie camera. In the mid 70's, when I was in high school, I started spending all my money on camera equipment, have a nice selection of Canon FD equipment. When Canon changed their mount and then digital came in, I was shooting less and less film, more with my twin lens Rolleiflex then the 35mm. My move into the digital was a Panasonic 12X with a Leica, it soon became the only camera I was using. Life had changed, and I didn't have time for anything but quick snapshots, etc. I was not following my art. That is changing now that I have discovered I can use my old FD glass with the full frame Sony, so I'm ordering an a7II this week and I'm excited about shooting again. Also excited about getting a Zeiss lens, love my Rollei. I love night shots, scenic, people, nature, technical shots. I have a set of studio strobes. In film I have cameras from a minolta 16mm spy camera up to a 4X5 Graflex along with enlargers for all of them.
Agree, nothing like a B/W silver print for tone.
Beautiful, I will always love B/W printed on silver paper. There is just something about a good B/W print, the richness of the tones, the shimmer of the black, not sure what it is, I just know I love it.
