The lines in this challenge will lead us right into September!!! Thanks, Larry and Lesley (Photogirl) for challenging us this past week.

Leading lines are a composition basic - they may not even be lines but the composition will lead the eye along a path through the image.

I am dedicating this challenge to our friend "Roadrunner" (AKA Jim). Jim is a regular here and he's been laid up with a health issue. He asked me to say hello to all of you for him. He loves this forum and the friends he's made here. He also said he and his wife would appreciate any prayers you'd care to say for him.

So Roadrunner - this one's for you. Therefore, my first post will be of some roads and snow which are both things you love.

HDR photography is a technique where multiple bracketed images are blended together to create a single beautifully exposed photo.

In other words, you take several photos with different exposures, then you combine them – in a program like Lightroom or Photoshop – to create a highly detailed file.
Why is this necessary?
Your camera can only capture a limited range of lights and darks (i.e., a limited dynamic range). If you point your camera at a dark mountain in front of a bright sunset, no matter how much you tweak the image exposure, your camera will generally fail to capture detail in the mountain and the sky; you’ll either capture an image with a beautiful sky but a dark, detailless mountain, or you’ll capture an image with a detailed mountain but a bright, blown-out sky.
High dynamic range photography aims to address this issue. Instead of relying on the camera’s limited dynamic range capabilities, you can take multiple photos that cover the entire tonal range of the scene.

This Challenge is meant to get you into using Your Camera's Bracketing Settings..

The above Description is an excerpt from Digital Photography School.

Free Sunday, AGAIN!!!
I was going to post this one on roxiemarty’s mural challenge but decided something painted on the side of a fire truck probably didn’t qualify exactly. But, you know what, it prompted me to think about birds I’ve gotten and some of the music or other silly things associated with them.

Larry thanks for hosting free Sunday. We are in caldwell Idaho at my Daughters place.

Flowers are the theme for this week’s challenge, but not just any flowers — specifically, black and white flowers. This challenge will not only test your photographic skills, but also your post-production skills.

While flowers may not be the most difficult of subjects, the more challenging aspect this week may be the post-production element, as creating eye-catching black and white imagery isn’t always as easy as it may sound. All too often, converting images to black and white can result in flat, boring photographs.

Lesley thanks for hosting the challenge. Is there a Calander for the August please send it. I will be traveling later in the month.

I will start the challenge with time pieces, way back thousands of years ago time was told by sundials and different water devices and then we got around to clocks and in 1505 Peter Henlein created the first pocket watch and it wasn't until 1810 that Abraham Louis Breguet created a wristwatch for the Queen of Naples, this caught on with the ladies but it took a fare while before men started wearing them. We seem to have come a long way since then.
Would be very interested to see your timepieces and the story behind them, if any.

So now it’s another Free Sunday. Post what you want to share for us all to appreciate. It’s been hot, hot, hot down here so I haven’t been out to capture much in the way of new subject matter. I have been culling the archives so I’ll kick it off with some I don’t think I’ve posted before….well, maybe one was.
