Chip you bonded incredibly well with this talent... The synergy latent within is simply amazing!
Loving her eye decor, especially the stellar browbone highlighting effect, so beautifully done.
Her eye inter corners are beautiful decorated with a shimmering gold/silver.... And the Kohl on her water line takes this into the fashion catwalk paradigm... If this young lady did her look I'm looking for an assistant with her expertise to help with bridesmaids for evening wedding events...

Wardrobe styling is to the nines... again beautifully done... A fashionista barbie doll for sure...
Excellent call on the pose dynamics... so compelling yet so age appropriate... for a serendipitous beauty/fashion narrative you've delivered in spades...

She will remember this epic session fondly moving forward...
A crystalline moment of charismatic allure eloquently done...

Thank you for sharing your creative artistry with this young lady Chic...
Looking forward to more of the same...
Cheers! Thomas

First and foremost A. T. thank you for your service as a Houston Firefighter... have a colleague with the same career path... I'm humbled at their incredible dedication to those they serve... You are truly a hero in the eyes of your community...

In light of this career service I'm going to offer you guidance from one who actually deployed the AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Nikkor (a true Swiss Army Knife) on commercial assignments. Sadly others in this thread who ridiculed this Nikkor likely in order to appear as a connoisseur of "fine optical glass... yet they post no documentation of same... Nor do they even post images that they "claim" were even taken with this Super Zoom.

I've shot this lens on my Nikon D3, D3x, D800e and D810 and it works extremely well within the range DxOMark has documented (70-120mm). So please start here A.J.
https://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Nikon/AF-S-NIKKOR-28-300mm-f-3.5-5.6-ED-VR-mounted-on-Nikon-

Next get off UHH and go to flickr and Search Nikon AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Nikon
https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=Nikon%20AF-S%2028-300mm%20f%2F3.5-5.6G%20VR%20Nikon
Here you will find a multitude of imagery many of which far exceed virtually anything you will find on UHH

Look to an example of Architecture by David Stevenson

If you are passionate about photography as you claim on you UHH BIO A.J. then you might be far better served by getting off UHH and joining flickr...

This has been my path and I've never looked back...

Again wishing you much joy and success on your photographic Journey...
I'm certain the residents of Houston deeply appreciate your service and would wish you the same in your retirement.

" She brought her own camera to the shoot so she could have some shots for herself..."
Speaks of her resourcefulness here... Experienced talent for sure...

As for the composition? Jim your visual statement shine's through brightly with your signature strong side illumination to bring out bias relief in your talent's facial features and physique...
Albeit the color harmonies latent within add an additional unique dimension here...

Loving the vintage feminine wardrobe selection... it's a stellar complement to her lovely porcelain skin tones...
However it is the classic elegance of those delicate slender fingers gently caressing this lovely flower that takes this capture entirely to the next level...

So poignant, so ethereal, so beautifully done...
Thank you for sharing your superb artistry here Jim...

Thank you Paul for your time/effort here... You are a wonderful attribute to UHH...
And yes I totally get the FB sizing criteria, it is a "must have" in my deliverables...

With that being said, why are you limiting yourself on flickr to this diminished lower resolution?
flickr allows for full camera resolution files which is why truly I cherish flickr...
In my humble estimation UHH and FB are not conducive to serious analysis of a photographer's efforts...

In your latest flickr post you have only shared a 2048x1280 file of what I would have LOVED to see at high resolution... Disappointing Paul, you have the image why not showcase your stellar craftsmanship?

Anyway you are one of the last remaining UHH members who I hold in high admiration...
Those who use UHH would do well to follow your posts...
You are an UHH Hero in my eyes...

All the best on your incredible journey Paul...

Bill Burkholder we are on the same page here...
"The answer, as in all of photography and life, is, (It depends.)"

My favorite reply is always "I dynamically allocate as the situation predicates"
While this may seem like an evasive maneuver to avoid a definitive answer it's how I manage my sessions.

To this end I will corroboration my inferences in this thread with actually commercial shoot imagery.
Folks please be considerate enough to post imagery to validate your inferences & hypothesis, K?
i.e. claims without documentation are pretty useless and lack much in the way of credibility.
Without supporting imagery I simply don't take a photographer seriously...

With that being said, it is clear in this thread that some folks are further along on their photographic journey than others. Albeit without documentation inferences presented sans same are at best hearsay.

My workflow has remained the static for a very long time.
Why? I have to get it right to pay the bills and always go with what is both effective and repeatable without fail.

Below are several Exposure Management scenarios and Focus protocols...
The first is my "Go To" studio setup...

A BD Key; Strip Box Kickers; an overhead silver parabolic hair light and white foam-core reflectors just out of frame below the talent to provide fill... I use an incident meter to balance the multiple light sources.
I also keep a close eye on my in-camera histograms... I use BBF and have strategically determined which AF point works best before hand so I'm on the near eye of the talent (which I lock in place).

The second is my "Run and Gun" event scenario... Exposure on the subject is controlled by an Nikon SB-700 or SB-910 using iTTL... It's fast, it's dependable and it's repeatable. I use a diffusion dome on the SB-Speedlights combined with an 7x10 angled reflector... Cheap, and mimics a BD a close range... Again BBF with AF point on near eye.

The talent in the first image is an agency model (Samantha) and her gentleman companion (Collin) who is an awesome male physique model... and has doubled as our lighting assistant on many commercial shoots.

The talent in the second image is a 12 year old "tween" actress (Arianna) who has already worked in several films... She is an amazing martial artist (black belt) and accomplished yogini... Yes and that's Samantha's hand (she has been our studio makeup artist for a half decade)...

On our commercial sessions every shoot is different and has it's own set of unique challenges.
Thus I have nurtured a long relationship with all my team members... It is these team members who take each and every shoot entirely to the next level... I'm only a single player on the team no more or less important to each and every other player in the mix.

Final thoughts? Focus always trumps exposure... no exceptions here.

I can pull shadows up 3 to 4 stops in Adobe Camera RAW, same with highlights... Especially since I use third party HDR software if and when it is required. I've never blown exposure on a shoot, albeit I've hated life on the few times I missed focus on real-time dynamic action imagery... i.e. League Soccer... Experience on the Soccer Pitch is a very brutal teacher.

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought.

Many thanks for all who have share their thoughts in this thread, albeit sadly without posting imagery to corroborate inferences? What can I say... other than disappointing that none would take the time to post downloadable imagery... Folks this is why cherish flickr now... EXIF data is there and the level of attainment is outstanding. If you want to learn high end photography I have found flickr to be a very viable option.

btw: If you are looking to shoot with an Agency Fashion Model in the Washington DC marketplace please consider collaborating with Samantha... She is beyond stellar... A thespian of compelling elegance and charismatic charm.

"...I question this author’s background as well."
We are on the same page here Fkaufman3...

His inferences are likely synonymous of an aging child suffering from untreated Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Sadly this is one of the least likely neurosis to find resolve owing to attitude issues on the part of the afflicted.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK556001/

However rather than reading though the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM–5) Duke Health has an excellent lay person guide and explanation
https://www.dukehealth.org/blog/9-signs-of-narcissistic-personality-disorder

They use the acronym “SPECIAL ME” to remember the nine signs of NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder).

SPECIAL ME

Sense of self-importance
Preoccupation with power, beauty, or success
Entitled
Can only be around people who are important or special
Inter-personally exploitative for their own gain
Arrogant
Lack empathy
Must be admired
Envious of others or believe that others are envious of them

After reviewing other post by the aforementioned this becomes painfully obvious...
Sadly none of the posted work contained within comes even close to an accepted level of "commercial quality"

Best to ignore and move on here...
Or please do attempt to keep on point and thoughtfully address the OP's initial query

Wishing you a calm, tranquil weekend Fkaufman3

"question about taking people without clothes on but no one seem to understand "
Ellen101 perhaps you're unable to communicate effectively with those in the "Fine Art Genre"

"My question was how to advertise this?"

Ellen101 lensmaster eloquently provided a very precise and unambiguous answered your query...

"1. YOU DON'T. Anyone who reads "NUDE MODEL WANTED...NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY" will label you a creep, or worse.
2.You want to photograph naked people? OK, first establish yourself as a professional photographer. NO BS, no come on lines. Actual work photographing PEOPLE. When you have a few years of established work photographing people, and can show examples of printed work and test work...then, maybe, you will convince someone to pose for you.

Ellen101 my question to you is why are you fixated this? What are the true promptings that come from within?
Sadly far too many gentlemen photographers pursue this genre in order to garner a sense of merit and worth from their male colleagues... i.e. Look at me, I'm soooo cool that these ladies take their cloths of for me...
The second reason? There is money in Pornography... Lots more money in Child Pornography so that is an end game for other lower forms entering into this fray...

As for a suggestion about Model Mayhem as an appropriate venue?
Please read this infamous case and others that resulted in Mayhem disallowing 16 year olds from obtaining MM profiles. https://www.courthousenews.com/model-mayhem-woman-has-a-case-after-rape/
During this era there was a mass exodus by Agency Models from Mayhem (likely as a result of promptings from their Agency Agents)

Ellen101 after reading your rather audacious post "I need money", I'm having some doubts about your communicational skills. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-491063-1.html

"I am trying to emulate National Geographic photography without having to travel far.
Any suggestions for person on a fixed income living in Tampa Bay, Florida?"

Ellen there is a timeless adage "He (or she) who mentions money first loses"

Ellen I've tried very tactfully to share with you that lensmaster has by far and away provided the most appropriate answer to a query of this nature... please focus on the wisdom lensmaster has shared with you...

I will add that "when your work is your play and your play is your work you have arrived" anonymous
There is a Japanese motto "Focus on your single purpose"

Ellen UHH has a Forum devoted to People https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-101-1.html
I would suggest you start posting your portraiture here in as you will find knowledgeable folks who will likely help you if you ask "tactfully". As lensmaster wisely stated, once you have a considerable body of work which is at a commercial level then queries will come... From the Field of Dreams “If you build it, they will come.

Wishing you much hope and success on your photographic journey Ellen...
Patience grasshopper "all is coming"

Oh my goodness! Loving those long flowing sun-kissed tousled tresses... Such a serene and tranquil ambience latent within...

This talent is a Hair Stylist's dream within a dream... so much potential showcased here...

As always you have bonded so wonderfully well with this enchanting maiden...
That said, your breathtaking capture is so evocatively similar of Maxfield Parrish "Stars--female-nude-seated-on-rocks" https://www.etsy.com/listing/79595008/stars-maxfield-parrish-art-nouveau (amazingly likeness)

btw, our team has several large 11x14 books of Maxfield Parrish prints in our Studio which we make available to both experienced and inexperienced talent to allow them to pick narratives that they feel comfortable in achieving on set...

While this isn't likely germane for location work I would highly recommend same for studio sessions.
Having an entire team on the same page BEFORE a session begins is a stellar protocol that can (and often does) allow for stellar synergy from all involved.

Jim I apologize for going a tad off topic here but your capture with it's alluring pose dynamic is so strongly reminiscent of Maxfield Parrish's illustrations I wanted to share how both you and Maxfield Parrish are in perfect accordance here. Great minds so often think alike...

Always look forward to your lovely renderings with their serendipitous pose dynamics, you truly are a master of the craft Jim.

As always Wayne you have bonded extremely well with your muse in this series...
And what an alluring muse she is... loving her coquettish smile in the first image, way too cute!

Her Fire Opal ring in the second capture is absolutely dazzling... Albeit here's a tip from way too many beauty genre assignments... While her nail decor is stunning the fact she slightly dimpled the skin on her check is what I've had clients rip my ears off over... Always share with your talent to lighting touch their face then ever so slightly lift their fingers up off the skin surface thereby eliminating their dimple effect.

Any yes the shoulder strap is an issue and a very delicate issue indeed, which is why I typically have a female team member aboard to go in and adjust the strap... However agency models are use to this physical abuse and no need for formalities as such. I've often worked with Tweens and in those scenarios I typically have the talent's "Stage Mom" handle this (make Mom feel empowered) lol

Of this set I believe the third is the charm! Perfect angle... LOVE the 3rd Image!
The fourth image? The iris are slammed way to far over to port side... too much Sclera showing opposite the iris, thus a distraction... However yours and others perception many differ here... but I've had too many hours on set to not notice what works well... Hope this helps or is at least food for thought...

Thank you again for sharing your masterful artistry Wayne... You are a Hero on the People Forum!
Looking forward to your next photo session Wayne

As always you bond so extreme well with your talent Rob...
And what a superb talent Vivian is...
From her stellar releve in the 5th position it is obvious that she is trained in classic ballet...

You might query to see if she still has her pointe shoes which might make for an intriguing session...
Thank you for sharing Vivian's grace, charm and allure... albeit it is her prowess as a ballerina that I deeply cherish...

Vivian's angelic arms/hands/fingers in the third frame speak for her compelling aura of feminine...
Looking forward to more of your sessions with such an amazingly gifted thespian; model; and ballerina...

Actually thinking all is equal... Centripetal force outward vector offsetting gravity's downward vector...
As a crazy sport biker I would pilot beyond my soft rubber tires limits of traction... sliding through corners...
Living on borrowed time... amazing I'm still alive!

Loving this epic rendering of a fabulous cheetah racing to it's dinner table? What's the backstory here?

Cheetahs are such noble and proud creatures... So sad that their fur became popular for the fashionable elite and their pill box hats... Jacqueline Kennedy, First Lady of the United States from 1961 to 1963, was well known for her "signature pillbox hats", designed for her by Halston, and was wearing a pink one to match her outfit on the day her husband was assassination in Dallas, Texas...

Those who deal in wild animal fur trade are despicable...
Sadly leopards suffered much the same way...

Thank you for sharing such a lovely crystalline pivotal moment in the life of the fastest animal alive today...
Acinonyx jubatus can reach 80 mph on level ground!
Also notice that this Cheetah's head is absolutely perfectly level... He would be a natural for piloting a sport bike...
btw... Always keep your helmet (i.e. head) precisely level in every turn... no exceptions here...

I was pushing 80 seven years ago. Yes, time do fly!

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity..." Henry Van Dyke

"Only that day dawns to which we awake... The sun is but a morning star..." Henry David Thoreau

Jim me thinks that age is but an illusion... simply a figment of one's imagination...
Albeit a very persistent one indeed... That said I've always held that... When your work is your play and your play is your work then, and only then, you have arrived... anonymous

“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Oriental proverb

Loving the high contrast edges on the strong side illumination here Jim...
Such an enchanting young lady so beautifully rendered...
You have a master's eye for shadow play Jim...

Thank you so much for sharing your prolific artistry within this forum...
You are a very tough act to follow...

What an awesome series Photolady2014!
"The first is a favorite!"
So totally agree! Looks like a "Flash Mob" of renegade bears set on storming a seafood restaurant...

Who was the choreographer on the image?
Those lackadaisical bears so masterfully arranged with the entire scene framed by such a breathtaking rainbow!

Thank you so much for sharing your epic artistry...
This entirely made my day...
