These are great! I was just S of you last Saturday in Netarts Bay. There was absolutely no let up of driving rain with wind. Looks like you had better weather.

Possibly. The presentation was set up by a third party and they also did the description of the seminar and managed the details. Other than the presenter I don't know names of any of the attendees. The presentation was not local but about 3 hours away at a community center. So although pictures were taken I don't know how to contact anyone about them. I sent an email to the presenter and I'm hoping he will answer. In the meantime I can relook at the presentation details for any other contacts. Thanks.

Perhaps the rain cover you saw was home-made. In the 1990's, I saw quite a few professional photographers use rain covers they designed and manufactured themselves; some were so astonishingly well done, made for a perfect fit. Back then, the selection of camera accessories was much more limited compared to today, and serious photographers often custom-designed their own accessories.

Possibly except I saw another one like it in the same group of people, same day.

Have you tried emailing the guy who hosted the seminar? If you find out the answer, I sure hope you will share it with us.

Yes, I found his email address and sent an inquiry to him. And I will post his reply for all to see.

I do appreciate all of the suggestions for rain protection and all very good suggestions too. However I have basic rain protection. I was looking for a specific kind/brand of rain protection that was described at the onset that I saw at a birding seminar. I thought someone might also have seen or even used what was described. It was way above what I own and what I have seen.

Try Aquatech, the origonal professional rain covers.

I did come across this and it looked pretty good. Thanks.

In my particular case I avoid shooting under the rain. I do not believe I would be comfortable even with a weather sealed camera which by the way are not completely weather sealed.
Something like a Ziplock, a very cheap solution but very effective, could be of great help although there are other products that are more sophisticated and perhaps better but I have no experience with any of them.
How often do you shoot under adverse weather conditions? If not often save your money.

You never know what the weather will be at the Oregon coast and I am here half of the year. Think salt water, sand, wind, rain, mist. My equipment is weather resistant- not weather proof. I have emergency protection in the form of a rainproof sleeve but it is awkward to use.

I have the Peak Design, which comes in 3 different sizes:

It's neoprene and covers pretty closely. It may appear baggy on a normal lens, but I'm sure a 300mm prime behemoth probably stretched any cover to its limits, making it look pretty sleek.

I looked at the video- thank you. I don't think this is it although closer. I may be mistaken but I would guess that the one I am looking for has more of a formed, harder shell. It caught my eye precisely because of its form fit. It seemed to be meant for rain-

Clarification- it was custom rain protection that covered the camera and lens as well as the extended viewfinder in one sweet, sleek package. I guess the lens to be about a 300 mm prime size or just a bit larger.

Thanks for your replies. I emailed the fellow and maybe he will be gracious enough to answer. If he does I will post it.

And yet, although PayPal is the way to go, there are several buying UHH members that don't/won't use PayPal for a variety of reasons. And so while they could be protected they aren't. Personally I wouldn't use any other form of payment for purchase from a private party on the Internet whether it be UHH, Ebay, etc.

Hi!

Do you mean something like this: https://www.amazon.com/CEARI-Silicone-Protective-Digital-MicroFiber/dp/B0172W0BIE/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1508679341&sr=8-9&keywords=camera+protective+skin

My friend has this for his Canon 5D Mark 3 in red but it still has cutouts for the shutter release and other controls which would probably let in water but pads against falls and knocks. Cheers. Ed

well yes and no. Yes for the sleek look, no for the cutouts and branding. What I saw fit the camera and lens together and the extended viewer- looked like one fitted piece. And it did provide excellent protection from the rain. The owner didn't appear to be worried about his camera in the rain at all. Thanks

Did it by chance look like this. You can select what color/pattern you would like.

nope- not a floppy rain sleeve- thanks. More like the fitted Lens Coat lens covering but covered the camera as well.

Vortex Storm Jacket or Peak Design Shell make full camera rain covers that may match, do a search and see what comes up. B&H, Amazon and other major stores have numerous options. I used a neoprene Lens Coat but it doesn't cover the camera, provides more protection from scuffs & scratches.

I looked at your suggestions- not seeing the sleek custom fitted look that fit over the camera, lens and extended viewer. Thanks.
