Old church photos are great reminders of history and family.
5 generations are across the street from Harris Grove Church in Hardscratch, Iowa. Hardscratch existed on Iowa maps until 1990 but all that is left of the village is a sign. The name of the village says it all but those who were and are members of the church are memorable.

I think the Black Bear may be a Sun Bear but the shots are good. Shooting animals at the zoo is some fun. You need time on your hands, because of people in the way, no posing by the subjects and reflective glare from the needed safety division.

Very emotional and moving. Alterations not necessary with this much story.

Composition is very good, subject tells a story, color is good. I would take the blue gadgets in the rear out of the photo because I think they distract.

My eyes glaze over after about 10 minutes with any operating manual. I think it has gotten worse, now that a lot of products figured out that their manuals don't need to be provided in print form and you have to download from the net. A recent purchase manual from the net included 192 pages. Hands on mistakes and word of mouth from forums like this are quite helpful. The step by step stuff in some manuals includes several models of the equipment and often don't match the product you have when it comes to some of the controls. Beside all this rant, I guess I would rather read a good book on my wife's IPad.

Canon has a bigger ad budget than Nikon. The other difference is a metal body for Nikon and if you are a klutz like me, that can be important.

Your ID photo suggests Lens Envy to me. Otherwise, I agree.

I enjoy street photography. It's like Forest Gump's box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.

Don't be afraid of a Rhino. They are rapidly becoming extinct and have terrible eyesight. Poachers whack off their horns to become horny. Keep on posting, it's only satirical comments sometimes.

Appreciate the comments. I tend to lean toward over exposure because I like it, but others do not. By the way, with regard to the lens discussion this was shot with a Tamron 18-270 mounted on a Nikon 5000.

I am willing to admit, that I shoot in JPEG. I do so with the excuse of being color blind to pastel shades and RAW fans advise that it is valuable because it allows bringing out all the better color qualities of a photo without injuring the original. So I have pretty much resigned myself to JPEG and Photoshop to clean up as best I can. I also do not delude myself by thinking I could sell my photo efforts, given the fact that probably, about half the worlds population are taking photos as I write. At 78 young years and having experienced many slings and arrows about just about everything, I continue to value comments from other photo enthusiasts in an attempt to do better. This is a recent shot taken on the road between Banff and Jasper Canyon, Canada.
