I apologize for the "scan" of a photo I took years ago of my youngest son. It did win the grand prize at the York Fair.

I've been watching this forum for about two months and thought it was time to become a member. I started out in photography many, many years ago, when my grandfather gave me his dark room equipment...way back in the mid '60s. Once I got that all set up and bought supplies, I broke out my mother's old Brownie and started shooting; I've been hooked ever since.

Over the years, I finally graduated to a Yashica 35mm SLR, and then added a Mamiya C33 when I started shooting weddings. I also added a C330 and purchased prism lenses for each. (Back in the late '70s, my average book was $700.00 or so, which equates to about $3500.00 today.) After a rather nasty divorce, I pretty much gave up photography so I could devote my weekends to my children.

When Kodak came out with their Digital Science series cameras, I bought a DC40, then years later a Lumix (Panasonic) DMC-FZ8. For that period in time, they took pretty good pictures. However, by that time, I started taking pictures at a local sprint car dirt track, and digital cameras didn't like all that dust and dirt.

I've since moved on to a Canon EOS60D which came with an EFS 18-135, 1:3.5-5.6 IS lens. One thing I miss is being able to do double exposures in the camera like you could with film 35mm cameras and the C33 and C330. I know you can do that with post processing, but I always enjoyed the creativity of doing it on the spot.

While I enjoyed wedding photography, I was never too keen on traditional studio work. (Believe it or not, I once turned down shooting a gorgeous young lady who moved down from NYC that had lost her "book." When she told me she needed everything from evening gowns, to undergarments, and "of course, some nudes," I referred her to my boss. Keep in mind, I was just recently married, only in my very early twenties, and very naive.)

I love nature photography, especially sunsets and sun rises, boat and car racing, as well as flora. My absolute favorite though, is taking pictures of my family, especially my granddaughters.

Here are some pictures of two of my granddaughters I took years ago.
