I wish you'd get carried away more often. These are a real pleasure to view! I would enjoy seeing twice this many. :-)

Dixie---I am running out of old stuff and hopefully the weather will continue to improve and I can stock up again. When you get as old as me and Black2 we need all the help we can get. Have you been seeing his post lately? Purely remarkable.

Thank you very much, I always saved up for one good trip a year, good thing my wife liked to travel too but on photo trips to Alaska I always went by myself. We took cruises together. We got married here in 1960 and for our honeymoon I bought a 59 Ford convertible and we drove all the way to Anchorage and back, it took us 4 weeks, had to quit my job but got rehired when we got back. As my mother in law said, only a nut like you would drive a convertible to Alaska.

Your Mother-in-Law might have a point there.

Some pics from a few years ago. I probably should have sent fewer shots. Got carried away. Thanks for viewing.

Here are a few images of the 700 year old medieval village Yvoire on Lake Geneva I did some years ago.. This place was voted as the most beautiful village in France and I do agree. The 700 year old stone buildings covered with ivy and flowers are just one of a kind, one has to wonder how they made those beautiful rock walls without our modern day machinery at a time when Columbus was looking for American shores. The stone mason work is just amazing check it out. The village is just across from Geneva Switzerland about one hour drive, if you ever there don’t miss it, you will not be sorry.
This are scanned slides so you will find some grain.

Mike- You do get around heh! Very nice show of art work in stones for buildings. The flowers are beautiful. Thanks for the post. Some day you must tell us of your travels.

This little cutie posed long enough in the fog for me to snap several shots. We've had quite a few at the feeder, but this is the only one that tolerated my presence.

I played with my old Pentax K-7 and the 300mm for these. Feel free to offer suggestions.

Looks like the Pentax K-7 came thru for you. Wonderful captures of normally just a plain old bird.

I took these last Sunday. Actually, except the Camellia, they bloom all year, the African daisies are almost like weed they seed themselves even in a small crack in the concrete.

Like Erv I smile when you post flowers. As matter of fact I smile at every thing you post. If we took a pole Mike, you would be number one in most all categories.

I have attached a photo of a Robin I captured here in our local park, probably one of the sharpestest I have ever done. I have seen the work that some of you other bird shooters do, and it is truly amazing. My settings were ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/500. I should have a sharp pic with good detail, yet the upper 1/2 of the shot has no DOF or is out of focus. Is my lens out of whack? Got any suggestions?

Nice Bruce. Were you on the ground with the bird or perhaps shooting down at an angle?

Shot in December when there were still a lot of cherries. Look how they take just one bite and then move on!

We've had 20 - 30 cedar waxwings all winter.

Canon SX50, aperture priority. Equiv. 1200 mm angle of view + cropped. ISO 800, f/6.5, 1/400 sec. Edits in PSE 12.

Stop it Linda! You are making me want the SX50. In truth, I have been waiting to see if Canon will produce the SX 60. I really enjoy your captures and comments.

LOL - it's back "button" :)

Assigning one of the buttons on the back of the camera to use for focus instead of the usual combo focus/shutter snap on top.

Linda-- Good explanation. I use most of the time. I am wondering why the back button can't be enlarged. Just to small for my clumsy fingers.

Hi everybody,

I'm a 69 year old Texan, Abilene to be specific. I'm jealous of the beautiful, snow capped mountains I see posted here and over the web but if I don't like what I see here I can always drive several hundred miles in almost any direction and change the view. Still no snow capped mountains though. To be honest though, I like snow best in someone elses photos anyway.

I'm disabled from a wreck several years ago and also have Parkinsons Desease which limits my photographic experience to the window of my truck and beanbag. You'd be suprised at what I run into while driving the country roads with my camera in my lap.

I also record events at our TexasAgrilife Extension service in Taylor County. I do as much volunteer work there as my health will allow. I've always felt they benifit our county and sourounding area with all kinds of (ususlly) free seminars, wildlife, Agriculture, Home and Family living and 4H. We work with every body from farmers and Ranchera and their families to 700 4th graders in a day, twice a year, explaining everything from Wind Farming to where their food really comes from. Hint (it ain't Safeway)

That's about all I can think of for now except to say I'm happy to have joined you and I'm sorry to be so lond winded but that's just me and I hope you don't mind.

Great shots. You really got that Coopers Hawk head on. It was a Coopers Hawk wasn't it?

YES Steven, it is a Coopers Hawk. I almost missed the shot because I am in a blind 3 feet in the ground and he was high in the tree therefore since i am shooting almost straight up, I had a pretty bad angle to get the face---know what I mean. Thanks for the comments.
