I have one like this I love for hiking. Distributes the weight across shoulders instead of on one shoulder or neck.

I agree that if you have Nikon lenses then stick with Nikon. I have Canon L lenses and the new Canon mirrorless cameras work great with an adpater.

I have 4 Nikon lenses...2 kit lenses that came with my current camera which I rarely use, a nikon 35mm dx1.8 and a 50mm 1.8. So I am not super invested in my Nikon gear. The only lens that would work well on ff is my 50mm.

I'd say that's a very successful photo shoot! Nice job (and cute kids)!

Just some observations from an amateur:

The ones that are standouts for me personally are 1, 2, 7, and 8. 1 shows a lot of personality, with a little grin that seems as if it could turn impish. 2, with his soft yet direct look, and graceful tilt of his head, is absolutely perfect. His eyes are the center of attention; couldn't be more charming! I see both of these have the light coming from slightly below, which wouldn't have occurred to me, but works with their young faces. A creative choice that works.

7 has such a nice contemplative look, yet still with that hint of smile. I'd like to see more picture area on the left (or crop the right side); he's looking out of the picture a little too much. And I'd crop the wood at the top; it's attractive but isn't the subject of the picture. Also, did you light him with a reflector? There's a white line through the center of his irises that I'd like to see gone.

I really like the high key feel of 8, and your focus is appropriately on his face and not his arm. Another dreamy look which shows an appealing part of his personality. It might be fun to play around with blurring and lightening everything but his features.

Just my preferences. Very good job on all of these!
I'd say that's a very successful photo shoot! Nic... (show quote)

Thank you very much for the detailed response. In the first two they were sitting in these giant cement tubes, the sun may have been reflecting up from the bottom of the tube. In Number 7 I did not use a reflector, the white line is a white fence that was in front of him....if you zoom in on his eyes you can actually see the entire reflection of the fence. I must have captured their personalities well because you hit them spot on. My younger boy does lean toward being impish while my older boy is more of a daydreamer. Again, thank you for the input it is much appreciated.

Love a good moody dark sky. Really gives any photo some drama. Great captures.
