I just returned from a 5 week business trip to New Zealand and Australia. One morning i had a couple hours to spare prior to an early afternoon business appointment. It happened to be on the Gold Coast of Australia. I took a walk along the beach and in a very short span of time and space found 3 amazing surf breaks. I did not have my Fuji XT-2 on this walk, only my cell phone. I grabbed these images because I am a former Southern California Surfer and always appreciate Brent Harder's surfing images. In a one mile stretch there were 3 perfect breaks, included in these images. The really amazing thing is that the breaks are so close to the beach you can just walk out to the breaks without endless time spent paddling. These are not high quality images by any stretch. I only want to share for those who are interested in great surfing breaks. Australia has more than any place I have ever seen. The first image shows the VERY touristy town of Surfers Paradise that has built up on the Gold Coast. Fortunately I was staying quite a bit away at Coolangatta Beach. Enjoy

Thanks again for your comments. I hope to ski Telluride next year, hopefully I won't see any avalanches there.

Hopefully we will have snow next year. Right now, we are at 34% of normal precip. Mountain peaks are bare. Red flag warning advisory's are out for Southern Colorado. Hope to see you in the winter.

Thanks, Mike (and Longshadow and rmorrison).

But about what applies to whom and such, I don't think the estate owner owns Mt Sneffels or much of the rest of the Sneffels Range, but then again, he just might. This much I am certain of, though: the sign applies to you and me.

You're right Cany. Mt. Sneffels is owned by you and me and everyone else on this site. However, your second photo is a shot of Ralph Lauren's ranch and it is definitely private. However, there are access roads that do run through the property. Just an FYI I will say it again, great images. You have a great eye.

Great images. I especially like #2 with the vivid colors in the rocks. It's amazing how much rocks can light up with the right light.

Absolutely a great shot. Catching the avalanche is masterful and I imagine somewhat lucky. As one who lives among soaring mountain peaks and see's these scenes on a daily basis, being able to capture the perfect moment is precious and not as simple as it may seem. Good job.

Brent, I really love these shots. Brings back lots of memories. My first car was a 1948 Plymouth Woody Station Wagon. It was cut off like a pick-up. Paid $45 for it in 1964. Used to throw in the boards/people and roam up and down the coast. Maybe my best car ever. Wish I was smart enough to keep it and restore it. Oh well, another lesson learned in the walk of life. Thanks for sharing. Neil

Great shots, again. I am a big believer in weather/atmospherics for my photography. And in SW Utah, it is even more pronounced.

No issues with the train. However, the Grand Canyon has MANY view points and you will be limited in your photographic opportunities without a car. Especially if the light is diverse and spectacular. There are as many moods in the Grand Canyon as ants on an ant hill. You may be lucky and get there when there is a massive thunderstorm and catch that one perfect shot; or the perfect sunset. Regardless, it is a wonderful experience and enjoy your time.
