I shot some of an osprey yesterday 40 yards away and this morning inside shot some black and white on the setting for it indoors with no flash.

Interesting how b & w handles shading...

A lamp in my sunroom with led bulbs in it and another 50' away as well at the end of the great room.

Just interesting effects....This was with a Canon Fd 85-300mm f 4.5 35 year old film lens via adapter on the Sony A7

The osprey was shot outdoors and he was alone as his mate was out hunting and he was letting the nest dry and grooming him/herself after days of rain. I don't think they have eggs there tho they have been trying!

Do not know what these flowers on a tree or big bush..not sure which..small tree or large bush....next to the boat ramp drive at Seven Seas Marina on Lake Chesdin. I do not know what they are but thought they were pretty today.

Does anyone know the flower's name or bush/tree's name?

Sony a7 with Canon fd 70-210 lens shot from car window shot manually.

Thanks one and all. Is there any other color for a Corvette? Yes, they are nice cars. The 1976 in the garage looks like moving sculpture....it is actually pretty though the 1991 is way faster with way more horsepower and sophistication. It is still as fast as the modern stock c7 corvette and cost $72,000 when sold as a new car in El Paso, Texas..way more than the most expensive cadillac they sold and twice the stock vette with the lotus designed all aluminum block dohc lt5. They only made 6951 of them and I have one. The engine is a torque monster and never quits...

Well, it sure turned out well. The computer algorythm worked out in this case. I thought you had a specific intent in mind. Good image either way. Amazing what the cameras can do.

Nice and interesting image. I downloaded it and looked at the exif data on it which seemed puzzling to me. Here's what was on it with the Canon camera..
f 5.6 1/4000th and 0.7- e.v. compensation 55 mm at 6:10 pm and I think iso of 400.

It looks like daylight to me and like you shot at an open lens setting perhaps for bokeh then had to run the shutter speed way up. Not sure but the whole setup is sort of puzzling.

Can you explain to educate me why you shot 1/4000th, -0.7 ev compensation and f 5.6 or is this an automatic setting on the camera?

I like the image but am a little confused by the exif data attached to it so would like to learn your thinking in using those settings.

Thanks, nice composition.

I'm glad you all like them. I'll include a shot each of the two I own in my garage, a C3 1976 that I occasionally road race and a 1991 ZR-1 with the fabulous lotus designed lt5 engine...I have another in an suv called a TBSS which was set up for running the Nurburgring in a lowered, race suspension, vette powered suv by GM performance group. The 76 is about 225 hp, 50 more than factory of the day and the 91 is between 450 and 500 and will still do more than 190...as you can see they happen to be red and are in very good condition....licensed as show only cars nowadays. The 1991 never quits at 8200 rpm redline...all six gears. I have a red under dust covers garage!

when he hid inside the firehouse doors i did the best I could. engines have so much rich detail they have been fun to photograph and with this less than optimum light one I fooled aroud with it enough to give it some interest from the form of display as much as the object detail itself...just for fun.

the perspective is the thing. big, tall, wide and a fourth valuable element is the gap between the two fences shows with the road pad which gives the viewer or a truck an entry into the site and its various perspectives as well. So, when you did not get in the foreground the tallest part of the structure you gave up or messed up that perspective which is the apex of the rest of the buildings fading down, back left and right, smaller indicating distance. that height is essential to have in my view above all else. once you GO BACK AND SHOOT IT AGAIN if you are so inclined with that in it then you can crop left and right to leave just a little of the left fence in like on the right so you keep the element of the truck or viewers entry into the site as an element. do that and it is great in my view. like the more monochome for this as well. nice idea on composition...just make sure you photo all the elements of the composition that show perspectives and depth. crop one and it becomes less coherent in my view. love the idea...takes a nice wide lens from your office. you have an eye for interesting things. byw, what would it look like reshot in both bw and color?

nicely detailed for an 800mm hand held. You must be steady as a rock to do that well!

cwilson...thank you. The camelias are difficult to photograph as their velvety texture is so soft it does not lend to definition. I probably need a filter of some type but they are pretty. Dogwoods usually show as a mass but the flower itself is unusual..four points hold it up and when those points let go the leafs unfold and you can see the hold points as "u" shapes at the tip of each..

Our state flower is I believe the Dogwood flower which is the flower of a tree not a bulb or low plant on the ground. I happen to have three or four which are all white dogwoods and they are one of the signs that April is here. One lone one volunteered to be photographed from a short stepladder today with a 50mm canon fd film lens that's 30-35 years old on a sony a7 body.

We even have one last velvety soft, pinkish tinged Camelia blooming on the east end of the front flower beds of the house....

It is spring in Virginia!

I like the last one of the bar with all the colored bottles and backlights with the computer register as well. Can imagine being there and just looking at them and smiling. Nice job.
